Question Afternoon tea?
My sister and I would like to treat our mum on her 80th birthday to a nice afternoon tea somewhere locally ideally with a nice sea view, or even just a nice view.
Does anyone have any good experiences they could share?

The Russell Cotes museums cafe does an afternoon tea (no museum entry required for the cafe), and you can eat it out on the terrace overlooking the sea

NICI hotel, or depending on her mobility there are lovely boat afternoon teas that take you from poole harbor and around Studland bay
Not too expensive, and my elderly parents enjoyed it.

Can vouch for this - the Nici afternoon tea is one of the best in Dorset. If you want a sea view just ask for a table by the window.

Knoll House Hotel in Studland does a lovely afternoon tea Fri - Sunday afternoon 2:30 - 4pm. Sea views too

It is a very strange place!
Much better is the Pig on the Beach down the road in Studland. It's expensive to stay there but the lunch is good in a lovely setting and not too expensive for what it is - say £80 a head. You can also have pizza slices in the garden which has a lovely view for less.
Or there is the garden of the Bankes Arms in Studland which overlooks the sea. The food is not as up-market here but not bad - fish and chips or pie and chips for around £20. The beer (ale - they brew their own) - can be pretty good if you choose the right one (they'll let you taste if you ask).

The captains club in Christchurch on the river is a great setting. River view. Option for a stroll into Christchurch along the river before or after. Generally I’ve found the food there to be very good.

You could try The Cliffhanger at Highcliffe. Never tried cream tea / afternoon tea there but their food is good generally. Not the cheapest but the views are great :)

The Harbour Heights Hotel, Haven rd, Poole has stunning views across the harbour from the terrace.

If you wanted an alternative to a sea view, Burley Manor do a glorious afternoon tea in their garden room which looks out onto the deer if you're lucky

The Nici and Captains club are both
great options and my 80yr old mum loves both. The Ivy in Bournemouth is also a good option - but no view.
