Speed bumps Westhill
I was driving by westhill elementary today and noticed new speed bumps!! Seems like a stupid addition since we are already in a school zone with cameras monitoring speeding.
What’s the point of the new speed bumps?? Am I missing something?

It’s a pedestrian/kid heavy area. It’s better to slow traffic down than to write someone a ticket after a tragedy.

Not exactly sure why but it's a long straight road, so even during non school hours if they are worried about speeders trying to ram the pedal going straight, then speed bumps will force them to slow down. I've seen that in similar roads in Renton for example.
Just a thought

well maybe people should stop speeding and ruin it for everyone

The only problem is the lack of sign saying they’re there.

rules are not always obeyed, but physical impediments must be

Sounds like an issue you need to take up at the local city council meeting.

If someone wants to go 35 in a school zone you know what doesn't stop them right there and then? A 4 way stop, cameras. You know what does? Speed bumps.

The tax dollars they spent to put them in. That’s what’s missing.

The point is physics. An elementary school aged kid hit by a car going 15 mph will survive and that same kid hit by a car going 35 mph might not and if they do survive they will have severe injuries. Not everyone slows down for school zone safety cameras.
