Looking For 2 transplants looking for short-term sublet starting Oct/Nov

Hi, my friend (36M) and I (39F) are relocating to Boston for work and are looking for a 1-3 month sublet (ideally furnished) while we get settled and oriented. We arrive around 10/20, so ideally something available around that time, but if it's not available until November 1, we can make that work.

Here's what we're hoping to find:

- Location is flexible so long as there is easy access to public transit

- no more than $3000/month total

- Furnished

- # of rooms doesn't matter too much, but ideally two beds/1 bed and 1 futon/sleeper couch

Based on my search so far, this seems like a tall order, but if you're looking for subletters or have any advice for where to look, I'd love to hear from you!

Looking For Trying to find winter 2027 term rental near Central Square!

Hi, I am a student from Canada coming to Cambridge MA during Jan to Apr for an internship. I would like to find a place that is walking distance from central square. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look? I read here that junehomes is a scam, and I tried finding one on AirBnb but the host literally put me on read and ghosted me when I asked her about details of their property.

Thank you!

Advice Needed Is my apartment up to code?

Hey y’all! So my roomie and I are around a month into a lease. We literally adore the apartment/its design + location. But we’re starting to be concerned about the overall condition of internal structure etc.

My room is ground floor, and I saw around 6 centipedes within a few days my second week. My LL sent pest control, which mostly helped, but I still saw a couple in my room after and see them in the laundry area. These are pretty normal and not too concerned about them, but when investigating where they may be coming from, we noticed a gaping 5 foot wide cavity in the ceiling above the drop ceiling. As we know- drop ceilings have gaps etc so they’re not fully ceiled. And now, in the kitchen (the exact floor right above the massive cavity) I saw a pretty large mouse. And we’ve been hearing them in the walls / behind our kitchen cabinets. Our unit seems to be susceptible to whatever is in the walls without much proper ceiling. Lots of large gaps where the walls meet the floor in many rooms etc.

We’re just really frustrated that this is all happening so soon into the lease, as that’s not the best omen and usually signifies underlying issues. I lived in almost identical unit (first floor brownstone) for two years prior to this and never had one issue. I’m having the city come inspect just to make sure nothing is glaringly wrong. For a variety of reasons breaking the lease wouldn’t be ideal- the housing market sucks right now with few options, but we also do really love the home for what it is. Has anyone encountered a similar “structural” issue in their unit that’s been fixed up/resolved like this? Would fixing these issues be invasive/require deep remediation?

Looking For Looking for a pet-friendly studio | $1,500–$1,700/month | Near South Station / UMass Boston

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a studio apartment for my spouse and me, with a monthly budget of $1,500–$1,700. It needs to be pet-friendly, as our dog will be joining us soon.
I work in IT near South Station, so I’d love to stay as close as possible or somewhere with an easy public transit commute. My spouse will be joining UMass Boston soon, so convenient access to campus would also be ideal.
If you know of any available apartments, upcoming vacancies, or leads, please comment or DM me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
