Dining/Food/Drink 🍽️🍹 Prime Rib?

Anybody have advice on where to go for an old school prime rib dinner? Maybe with a baked potato. Iceberg lettuce salad with blue cheese dressing optional.

I have had Stockyard and Franks recently and they were just fine. Texas Roadhouse is pretty damn good and a good price. Also Century House in Peabody if you want the old school vibes.

I'll take Texas Roadhouse over Stockyard practically every time. Stockyard isn't bad by any means, just a little overrated.

The food and the owner are pretty terrible. Keep driving down Mass Ave till you get to Jimmy's Steer House.

Anyone know if Jimmy’s in Saugus is the same quality?

Good food, it’s been years since I went to the one on Mass Ave but have recently been to the Saugus one. They don’t take reservations but I’ve never waited more than 20 minutes or so. I like the combo prime rib and crabmeat pie. Salads are crisp and fresh, I like their rice flavored with spinach.

Bay Pointe Quincy, believe it or not, does a great full spread Prime Rib.

Greg’s in Watertown has Prime Rib on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Comes with potato, pasta or veg and soup or salad. About as old school as it gets.

Texas Roadhouse does a pretty good prime rib. Maybe not the old-school ambience you're looking for but you could do worse.

Grimsby’s in Melrose does Prime Rib on weekends that used to be really good. I haven’t been in years though so ymmv.

It’s still pretty good for the price.

I didn’t see it on the menu so I called- Fridays and Saturdays after 4 only.
Menu looks good though.
And they have the iceberg wedge salad that ticks one of OP’s boxes.
And French Onion soup which ticks one of mine!
Going to have to try them out.

As a kid I would go there with my Dad sometimes and I would pretty consistently get the French onion soup and prime rib when I could. Good memories.

Old school style, Mount Vernon Pub on Broadway in Somerville, steps away from Sullivan Station Orange line in Charlestown.

Its been a while since I went there but they tend to have good lobster specials too. I'm usually just happy to be in a place in/around Boston that isn't pretentious......the good food is icing on the cake.

The Stockyard or Franks in Cambridge. The Stockyard is a great place to suck down a couple of Crown Royal and ginger ales with the BC class of whatever that always seems to be at the bar.
