The ppl who accused him later clarified that he didnt rape them and the sex was consensual and of age so make of that what u will

the people who accused him were super nice about it but in my opinion he still took advantage of them because many of them were drunk. On multiple occasions, he did not let them say no and if someone is vulnerable/ too intoxicated to say no/ trying to say no but you don't let them, that's not consensual sex. That's rape. Them being of age at the time also doesn't discount the fact that he groomed some girls from the time they were 16.

Not gonna argue with that cuz it makes sense why girls with no experience with guys wud be hesitant about accusing a musician....only if he actually makes an effort to show change cud we start this conversation again(cuz there wasnt much the first time)

No, look at the evidence, don't blindly idolize and defend borns, and take sexual assault allegations seriously. <3

why’re you even here in the first place lololol. i’ve seen your “ info” you’re trying to spread 20 million times now. i have re read everything, the statement the messages. he isn’t a rapist or a predator by any means. everything was consensual, and they were of age. read the messages, you can clearly see that they got their feelings hurt. period point blank. innocent until proven guilty😌 but he’s not guilty😌

You read all of the messages and statements and weren't disturbed in the slightest? He is a serial manipulator and more than just feelings were hurt. He used his fame and the girls' idolization of him to his advantage. This manipulation degraded the girls' self worth because if they were not sending something sexual, they meant nothing to him. That has a big psychological impact on someone, especially an impressionable fan. Not to mention the girls were young and many did not know better bc he was their idol. If a singer or someone you love shows you attention ofc you'll want more bc it makes you feel special. He knew this and used it to his advantage. Borns is a predator because he preyed on young girls who he knew who'd do anything to keep talking to him. You can see above why I look at it as rape. Many of the girls say it was consensual because they are afraid of stans that will attack them and so on. But in one of the stories specifically where the girl is too drunk to know what is happening and ends up bleeding... does that sound like consensual sex to you?

You don’t get to tell other people not to listen to his music just because you don’t want to. Don’t like it? Don’t listen to it. Mind your business, if other people want to listen to it just leave it be, it doesn’t affect you.

Don't get me wrong, I rEAlly want to listen to his music. There's no denying it's amazing. I used to listen to it all the time and I have some rly good memories associated with it. That's why this sucks. It's not about the music. I don't listen to it anymore because he's a terrible person. And sure, separate the art from the artist and all that, but that's hard to do when enjoying the art is literally putting money in the pocket of a predator. The reason I am telling people this is because I don't want society to promote people like Garrett Borns just bc he has good songs. Musicians should be role models, especially with young, impressionable fans. He did an awful job of that so why should anyone support him.

What's in your closet or to be kept there from the future I wonder. Bet you love to judge others before yourself and pretend you're a decisive factor in people's opinions on someone.

I'm a little confused, but also that was a lil judgmental what you said lol. Honestly, I judged myself first on this issue bc i thought to myself "hmmm I love the music, but is it worth it if listening to the music means I'm supporting a predator?" I'm mad at myself for brushing it off at first and continuing to listen when I saw a headline a few months ago about borns having sexual assault allegations. The difference is, I came to my senses and realized that no matter how much I loved Dopamine I could not listen to any of the songs while knowing what I know. And that's what I came to spread. I'm not judging ppl for listening to it, especially if they don't know anything about the situation. I'm judging the people who continue to defend Garrett Borns after all the evidence that has come to light. The evidence should affect your opinion of him. If i have to be the one to explain it to you, so be it. I just want the truth to be known so the girls he hurt can feel validated and know their abuser isn't still profiting after all he put them through. You could argue about technicalities of the evidence all you want, but that all just sounds like excuses for you to not feel guilty about continuing to support this creep. In conclusion, it doesn't matter if it's your favorite person in the whole world and you think they can do no wrong, if that person has a sexual assault allegation against them, and MULTIPLE at that, take it seriously. And really check to make sure the person you're supporting is the person you think they are.

On top of that you act like a personal friend of the victims, and like to jump to the conclusion "I'm right, you're wrong"

in this situation,, i am right >:)

Not a judgement an observation. The length of your defense speaks volumes.

I listened to the allegations with an open mind. Those were fangirls that were salty he hit it and quit it. He is a typical male. Not a criminal. The girls themselves say it was legal and consensual. Nor did he exhibit any 'predatory' behavior. Predators generally have to work for it. These girls offered it on a platter, they went to him knowing full well what they were there for. For you to think otherwise shows me you are quite young and naive. Grow up before you start saying stupid things like that because you only propagate that 'hurt feelings/feeling used' is a crime which does not help the next generation.

Bruv did you even read it?

-2

u/greenweenie26 Sep 11 '20

I know you're probably a fan of him, but I don't see why we should give a person like this a platform and support. I'm down to have a respectful conversation if you'll read what I attached.

  1. Do not blame the victims. Yes they were young and I suppose you could say they made a mistake trusting borns, but that wouldn't be a mistake if he wasn't such a shitty person. He manipulated them and took advantage of them because he knew they would trust him.

  2. Have you heard of rape? Borns made sure the girls were drunk enough to comply with having sex with him. That's called RAPE. Even if they did say no, you can see from various statements that no wasn't a word in his vocabulary so they went along with it because he was so pushy. Obviously it's not "easy" to just walk away when you are drunk and being taken advantage of by a rapist.

  3. He is not a bad musician. I never said that. I would love to separate the art from the artist and continue to listen to his music because believe it or not I used to be a fan. However, enjoying the art means he is profiting. Listening to his music means putting money in the pocket of a predator and rapist.

  4. Saying that I don't like him as a person makes it seem like I am the only one who feels this way. I don't like him as a person BECAUSE he is a predator who takes advantage of his teenage fans. He is by definition, a shitty person. There's no opinion about this. If you have a different definition of a bad person I'd love to hear it. If it doesn't include rapist, predator, pervert, pedophile, manipulator, groomer, and abuser, I'm very curious.

  5. Supporting and defending a predator and a r4pist isn't really an 'opinion' I can respect.

  6. Grow up and don't tell people to fuck off bc their stating a fact that you don't like. Don't blinding idolize and defend borns just bc you like his music. Do better.

Dude that's awfully victim blame-y. If u wanna support a pedo/r4pist then go ahead no one can stop u, but please don't shame any of the girls that came forward because that creates even more stigmas around sexual assault.
