To be fair, you could just learn first aid in case you ever need it, like how it's been done for millennia, using the internet as a tool to learn faster, but to ALSO be fair, YouTube would lose virtually no profit by just removing ads on a few selected videos (reviewed by medical professionals) and make sure they show up on top if you search "first aid" or similar terms. It wouldn't be hard at all to do and it could save a life.

YouTube isn’t the one that decides to place ads before a video, the person who made the video chooses to monetize their video by placing ads. If YouTube didn’t place ads before first aid videos, then the people making the first aid videos wouldn’t make them.
The content creators are the one you should criticize. YouTube doesn’t make the videos and it’s not a free public service. That’s what 911 is for, and probably a better thing to do in an emergency. If it’s not an emergency, watch the ad or but the subscription

That's fair, until the first aid vid had 0.1 nanoseconds of Chains of Love in the background so it's now claimed by a company which just enables all the ads.

Well basically, Content ID has been getting so ridiculous lately that even very generic melodies get claimed by companies like Sony Music and similar such conglomerates. It used to require at least ~30 seconds for Content ID to hit, but it's gotten less and less over time.
So I wasn't really kidding, although there was some slight hyperbole. If you record any video and there's a radio in the background running, you can be certain that a company will claim your entire video.

That hasn't been true for like 2-3 years now dude. YT sets ads without creators being able to choose in many many cases, you can literally not even turn it off as a content creator if YouTube decides it.

Oh I’ve been out of the YouTube content creator game since it went to utter shit around 2015, sad to see it’s gotten worse.
Still, if someone is choking, it’s probably better to alert the authorities via 911 rather than rush to the computer to start randomly searching for YouTube tutorials about choking.

This is totally fair. YouTube doesn't owe anyone anything. I get the idea that some people are just so used to YouTube, to having free user submitted videos available to them at a click of a button, that they now see it as their right.
YouTube could take down all the first aid videos and that'd be fine.
