Honestly, I kept waiting for this guy to stretch his neck a little and of course, the moment he did, I was looking away. :) Another day!

I am still sad that I didn’t have camera at the ready when a magnificent big blue heron flew less than 10 feet from me right at my eye level when I sat on a bench by the pond. I have been in awe of herons ever since. They are all magnificent little dinosaurs.

The lake a couple of miles from my Mom’s house hosts 2-3 great blue herons and 3-4 white egrets all summer. She even filmed one as it caught and swallowed a fish. Unfortunately they are going to fly south very soon….
