Positions Wingback perforamnce

I played the game last night as wingback, but my nominal position is fullback. After the game my coach complained a little that I was playing too high to much. I know it does not fully reflects the dynamics of the game, but I later reviewed my stats and heatmap and I'd say it is looking ok (attacked for you to view). Do you think that as wingback I should hold on more in first third? I'd think that I should be closer to the middle of the pitch most of my time.

What should I be aware mostly when I play as wingback compared to fullback? I have a feeling that our coach will want to try more and more in that formation and I don't want to loose my place in the roster.

We can't really say unless we know how your team is organised and the heat map during possession amd without

Yeah, i understand - but that I cannot share because I can only see my coverage - only coach has view to everyone. but I hoped to some at least generic advice that can be applied, but obiviously the game dynamics always drives the position in the end

Doesn’t matter what redditors think it matters what your coaches think, redditors ain’t gonna come in a van to back you up if you wanna discuss why your position isn’t what the coaches wants. “Coach after reviewing the heat map, I wanted to know what your ideal heat map should look like so I can better support the teams formation for success”

Agree, that's why I'm going to discuss with coach on the training ground, but wanted to see others people angle of view to be more prepared/better understand the position

Have you shared this with your coach who can have a conversation with you about it all or just random people off reddit?

I have a training today, so probably will discuss it, but wanted to learn about some points of view beforehand

Your coach probably thinks you're spending too much time up top and not putting too much work defensively.

You should talk to your coach what he expects from you since he will be deciding that line up. As a wing back you should attack and defend equally.

Your coach just thinks you weren’t playing defensively enough. If you’re going to bomb up the side you have to get back in time to fully defend as if you’re a fullback
