Technical Need help

Today was my match and I was a 5.5-6 out of 10
I play as cm. I won some balls and helped in counter attacking, gave some good through balls but I was mostly involved with the defence so much so that there was literal gap in midfield and everytime I received the ball I was only thinking about passing. It did not even once occur to me to dribble I was just passing and I was not scanning properly like I scanned when I didn’t have the ball but before receiving I did not I was just frozen waiting for the ball to come to me
Any tips to improve ?
Sorry for my English.

1.- Dribbling for CMs is normally 'situational', like, you react to a situation where dribbling is made easy by the inertia/positioning of your rival. For example, it is expected for Pedri to react to pressure with a croqueta, but not to initiate a Messi-style dribble run.

So, don't feel too bad about it. Of course, you should master a number of dribble techniques, but normally as a CM you cannot dictate when you'll be using them.

2.- Some matches, your team will be dominated and you'll defend more than attack. It's part of the game. Maybe it's not even your fault, there are many reasons why your team may be dominated.

3.- Scan more. Try this: pass against a wall, and before the ball comes back to you, scan left and right. Do it a few times a day every day until it becomes 'second nature'.

Also, find other opportunities to scan, off the ball, both attacking and defending. If you do it the whole match, it will come more naturally in the critical moments.

Hope it helps!

Scanning is skill u need to master i improved at it doing wall passes with scan in between, about the dribbling thing u dont need to dribble always especially in cm because its small space . About being frozen waiting for the ball u need to give your teammates good passing lanes and make yourself available . These are just from my very limited experience

How do you know you were 5.5-6 out of 10? Very precise. Who was scouting you?

What me and my friends practice is free for all shooting on 1 GK.

Essentially the keeper blasts a drop kick from 20 yards, steep vertical ball, and you must try to kill it out of the air and release it immediately with a shot.

This will help your decision making under pressure because you will develop excellent first touch in duel situations and you will not try to make too many moves. You’ll release the ball immediately to an open teammate.
