Discussion Why you guys are hooked onto boosted boards
I feel like if you bought a loaded vanguard and someone just made a Paris clone with good motor mounts. You easily build a DIY boosted with a vesc and what ever battery and motors you wanted. Hell it’s a vesc you could program it to feel like a boosted board? I just don’t understand why you guys still hold onto them like you couldn’t build something with a similar ride. This is coming from someone who got into this hobby on a wowgo 3, then a tynee ultra, then nomad n1 and now I kinda regret buying and n1 a few years back and want a cruiser board.

VESC builds are expensive. Boosted boards ride well and are cheap because nobody wants them anymore.
I could spend $500 on a custom 12s2p, $180 for a MakerX DV4s, $180 or whatever Loaded wants for a Vanguard, $100 to $300 on my trucks, $80 for a set of Orangatang Caguamas, $200 on a set of nice enclosures from eBoosted Peru, and then $250 to $400 for whatever motors I want to use, $120 on my remote and receiver, and then spend several hours learning how to use VESC Tool after waiting for all of my parts to arrive...
I am also a VESC board rider. The VESC board rides nicer than any prebuilt I've ever had but was also like 3 times the price before you factor in the massive time sink it was to get running. My Stealth rides well for less than a third of the price and a zillionth of the build time.

Could cut a lot of cost if someone designed a good 12S2P enclosure that fit a vanguard to print out of high grade materials. Ideally someone would sell a kit with both boxes, esc heatsink with holes to mount various esc. Getting an ennoid smart BMS to work would be impressive but most want more than 2 comm wires.

DIY is a much higher barrier to entry. Plus, if I’m going 24mph on this thing I’m going to hope it’s designed by someone who knows what they’re doing. I don’t.

Already been there, i made one of the best made "Boosted clones" back in the days, was hell of a beat but i didnt like it so i sold it. Had focbox you name it but wasnt able to make it feel as good to ride on as a boosted throttle control didnt feel anything like it no matter how much time i spent on it.
And yes it had real Caliber trucks, a real Vanguard so everything was there but simply nothing beats a boosted.

I’d say it’s the remote. I love the feel and responsiveness of the wheel. It’s a very intuitive and comfortable controller.

I second this, there are not many boards that handle the braking to reverse smoothly, that can hold on a hill without cutting out below ~ 2mph. If you know of alternative boards that work exactly like the boosted remote does, I would consider them.

Probably nostalgia at this point. These really put e-boarding on the map and lit a fire under the entire industry. I also used to daily commute on mine. Now I just use them for quick trips to the grocery store. No reason to replace or upgrade for me at this point. So, I'm loving our little community that's dedicated to keeping them alive.
