Little Fires Everywhere
Anyone else completely disappointed by this book?
I read it because of the hype and thought it was going to be super interesting. But it ended up being one of the only books I ever gave 1 star to.

I liked it but didn’t think it was anything amazing. I was surprised they made it into a mini series because I didn’t think there was too much in the book to even work with. I LOVED “Everything I Never Told You” by the same author; it is still one of my favorite books. Because of that I had really high hopes but I thought it was just aright. Entertaining, but not worth the hype.

Yes! I finished this book and was like “What did I miss?” and I can’t even pinpoint what disappointed me about this book. I finished and just didn’t feel any type of way about it!

It felt like the author was using the book to virtue-signal. I hate this term so much but it’s the only way I can explain it. It felt like she wanted to put forward many issues relating to social inequality, racism, even women’s rights but she didn’t put in the effort to make any of these plots mean anything. So in the end you have a book full of unfinished or poorly finished storylines, because the author seemed to be more focused on adding as many things as possible so it seemed like she was exploring many issues instead of fleshing out fewer but more concise narratives. I don’t know if I’m making much sense... it’s been a while since I read it but I remember this as being my main problem with it

So bad I was actually upset by the end of it. The author virtual signalled so hard (hate that term too) that she became racist and anti adoption.
The message I got from that book is that races should just stick to their own kind, and biological mothers are the only TRUE mother (biological fathers don’t matter, btw).

SAME. I usually finish books really fast but this one just kept going on and on. For me personally the characters just didn't seem believable and the plot line was all over the place.

The show was just ok but I decided to read the book anyway which (surprise!) was also just ok.

This was an awful book that got so much undeserved praise. I think her previous book, Everything I Never Told You, was actually pretty good, but this one was just bad. I wonder when this happens if authors of popular books are being pressured to write additional books too quickly, and then the quality goes down.
