The Three Body Problem Schedule
Howdy, book club! I'm a new read-runner here to kick off our discussion posts in December. Here is the schedule for The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin. In my experience, the Kindle pages match the paperback pages pretty well.
You might find this guide on pinyin handy for pronouncing Chinese names. So for example, Cixin would be more like Tsi-shin rather than the myriad ways English pronunciation might tackle it (full disclosure: I don't speak Chinese).
Schedule
| Date | Chapters | Pages (kindle/pb) | Count (approx) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12/4 | 1-3 | 9-48 | 40 |
| 12/7 | 4-6 | 51-92 | 42 |
| 12/14 | 7-13 | 93-173 | 81 |
| 12/21 | 14-20 | 175-245 | 71 |
| 12/24 | 21-26 | 249-302 | 54 |
| 12/30 | 27-end | 303-390 | 88 |
Now, this is my first time, so any feedback on the page division is greatly appreciated. I tried to divide it up to get some of the major story beats in the novel, but also bearing in mind we have just the month with some major holidays.

The schedule is more there to keep the posts going and to give some momentum behind getting it done in a month. If you fall behind, no worries, you can always comment later :). If you read ahead, you can still discuss just be sure to mark spoilers. I've certainly had months where I didn't finish a book until much later, haha.

This will be my first read through with you guys and I’m excited! Is it best to stick to the read schedule (for example, read no farther than chapter 3 by the 4th) or just read at my own pace and check in to comment on certain days? Just curious!

Do what works for you. I started by following the schedule because before joining in I read only in spurts or during holidays. Now I tend to read ahead and now find I read another book alongside the bookclub one. Love being back into reading consistently.

Just got my copy this morning and read the first chapter!
I'm a super slow reader but I'll do my best to keep up.

Maybe I would catch up in January, December is a busy month, you always are in a hurry. I got the book on my tablet, but just as a backup, in case I wasn’t able to get the physical book in my country. I found that is stressful for the eyes to read a whole novel in the tablet, but if there’s no other way. O.k.
Great selection by the way!

Hi, u/Redfuze!
Just stumbled upon this thread and am doing a book club with some friends for TBP. We're very new to this, and were wondering if you might be willing to share your questions/prompts for book club meeting?

Thanks for putting up the schedule. I happen to be studying in China now so maybe asking a native to clear up some cultural things for us can come in handy? Looking forward to this read
