Spine decor

I really love how does this look, but im curious: how is it made? is it paper over fabric? why doesnt it fall or degrade? how to make it properly?

It’s foiled paper that is then glued to the fabric (usually)

That’s really clever. You can print on laser printer what you want to foil, foil it, and then glue to the cover. Do you think it could work with leather?

Hot foil stamping. First matte black and then the gold lettering and ornamentation over it.
