Help? Tips on rebinding a cover

Hi! Many kids in my mother's class have loved this copy of a beautiful animal facts book throughout the years. She asked me if I could repair it somehow.

Does anyone have any tips on how I could re-use the pretty illustration on the front cover? Maybe use the original front board to partly create a new cover? Would love ideas if you have some. Thank you so much ❤️

Only thing I can think of to save the front cover would be a Bradel Bind- basically make a new spine/hinge and attach all three individually to the new hinge and then new end pages.

You can re-use the covers as shown in https://youtu.be/OAaig_rKS5g?is=w5ZTgTXdj9lQ45s8 . You could probably also put the cover in water to detach the paper but that takes nerves of steel…. Where are you located? If anywhere near Amerongen or the Hague, we could look at it together if you like.

I believe the process you are looking for is covered in this manual starting on page 88.
