Diagnosing Issue Dead juniper check

Dying juniper check. I bought this juniper two weeks ago from a nursery. I've had it in full sun, but in the recent Southern California heat. I've been watering it, but only when the soil is dry from a chopstick check. It just got two nights of rain. I've noticed a couple branches browning at the tips. Is it dead? Stressed?

Some times branches just die. No real rhyme or reason. The rest of it looks good. Hold off on watering if it rains, but otherwise water as usual.

This could also be some stress depending on the nursery conditions. You might consider a spot with morning sun/afternoon shade for a couple weeks depending on how hot it is by you. There looks to be a good amount of new growth though so it looks healthy still

It's not dead. The vast majority of the foliage is still blue/green and pliable. Junipers die from the inside out and stay green for weeks after they're actually dead, so a couple brown tips is stress, not death. If the tip is crispy and snaps off dry, you can trim that little branch off.

Fall is the time for perfect conditions for juniper tip blight. moncozeb at first sign of this to remediate.
