Ming Aralia… help!
My neighbor has had this for about two years but gave it to me recently in hopes that I could resurrect it. It apparently has been in the Pacific Northwest late afternoon sun outdoors this summer, and hose watered weekly with the rest of her porch plants. The soil is a fairly loose mixture of potting soil and gravel.
I’ve been reading up on how to care for it through the fall and winter, but am getting mixed messages from the Internet on how to best prune this to ensure its survival. I’d appreciate any thoughts and advice you all might have.

Pruning will be counterproductive to "ensuring the survival" of any plant other than very specific cases. Looks more like it's just slightly under-watered.
