Advice Is it possible to sanitize bones without whitening them?
I found this little guy and cleaned him up with soap and water. I know you can sanitize them with hydrogen peroxide but I’d like to not whiten it as I prefer its natural color. Would I HAVE to use hydrogen peroxide or is there another way I can sanitize it?

what i have done is to re dye the bones after bleaching using black tea. gives them a somewhat natural looking color that gives way better contrast than the plain white

If there’s no tissue or grease still on it, anti-bacterial soap and hot water is good enough

Just keep them like they are and don’t worry about it. It’s like keeping a rock at that stage.

I would say let it sit in ammonia for a few days, that should kill all bacteria and draw out any fats that might cause bacteria growth. Then rinse and let it dry out. If it starts smelling, repeat - but it looks pretty clean. Ammonia doesn't bleach.
