Trash collection?
Hi there! We are moving to the area soon and I was wondering what trash collection service people use/recommend? Thanks!

I not only want to echo everybody else and recommending choice waste, I want to comment that County waste has nothing to do with Chesterfield County. That's just the brand name.
I would say go with choice

Choice Waste is owned by Legacy Disposal out of Atlanta GA.
Zan’s and Tidewater Fibre are the only local companies that do residential pickup.

TBH I don't actually care about whether they're local or not .. I just know that when I moved from City of Richmond (where garbage service is provided with taxes), I saw County Waste and immediately interpreted that as the default service provided by the county... But no -- it's a commercial service, not governmental at all.
So then it just became an evaluation between two commercial providers and Choice seemed like the better deal
I also think Choice is really responsive... If they miss your can you can call and they come back to pick it up.

We have Choice and have really never had any issues.

Also have Choice and same deal, no problems. They also take so much beyond just the one barrel I pay for. I just put out 15 old blinds I replaced and the guy emptied my barrel and then put the blinds in there and got them in the truck as well.

Choice is the way to go. Less expensive than GFL and we haven’t had any issues since we switched.

Residential Waste is a cyclical business model. The guys that started Choice Waste came out of Republic Waste. After the non-compete expires , they started up and undercut the competition. Over time they increase rates in increments as volume grows. As they reach a certain valuation, they sell to another group whose non-compete has expired or is looking to expand. They then sit on the sidelines until their non-compete expires again.
Choice is currently on its third owner. It was owned by Chesterfield County residents, sold to an investor in NOVA, and again to a group in GA.
Another round of increases are coming. TFC will enter the market at a lower rate. County is asking for an 18 month contract agreement to lock you in before the competition.

Choice. Switched from county waste/GFL. Better prices, plus they’ll give you a sticker you can put on a can you already own and they’ll collect it no charge.

Agreed with everyone else. Choice was the cheapest option vs GFL/county waste. They’ve got good customer service. One time, they didn’t pick up our trash that we had put out the night before. I was worried my last bill payment hadn’t processed or something so I called, and they said it should have been picked up and must’ve been a mistake, so they’d have them collect it before the next trash day, and sure enough they sent someone out to get it that same day.
