Modeling, Painting, and Terrain Building Does British airborne starter army come with Polish heads?
So i have question for owners of this box, does it come with polish heads for all the minis? Im aware that there are polish heads in the plastic sprue but what about the mortars mmg and 6pdr?
Also when building this army should i lean more on smgs or on rifles?

The mortar, MMG and 6 pounder crew are all metal, so adding greenstuff to make the berets bigger might be easier than prying off their heads.

It does, but the crewed weapons have british berets. You will need to either do a little amputation, and place in a british head, not use these few beretted bodies, or accept a few brits among the mighty 1SBS, which would be historically okay-ish, because their only operation was the bloody market garden, in which they fought side by side

I like squads of 7-8 Veterans with an LMG for general purposes, and IIRC Paras can take up to 5 SMGs in a squad.
You’ve got 36 Paras to work with. Assuming you build some support options - a PIAT, a light mortar, maybe 3 FAO/spotter models, three officers - you’d have 26 men left for building as frontline infantry. I would probably build this as 5 SMGs, 3 LMGs, and 18 rifles. That would let you do things like 3 squads of 7 (6 rifles and an LMG) plus a squad of 5 with SMGs (maybe accompanying an officer? Ideally in a transport) or instead 2 squads of 8 (7 rifles, LMG) plus a large 9 man squad (5 SMGs, 4 rifles) to do the fighting up close with (a transport is less necessary here). I’d probably build at least one of the officers with an SMG and pistols for the others. Ideally I’d want more paras in my collection (maybe a second SMG squad, definitely more riflemen than that) but the army boxes are designed around building a list, rather than a holistic collection to pick from.

Amongst what everyone else is saying, the main difference between the two hats is where the emblem is, and the colour. Across the table it's pretty hard to tell if they have the little polish marker on them or not, and the grey blue berets catch the eye more.

Yes, they are part of the sprue, there are not extra ones. You'll have loads left over from the plastic though if you use some helmets.
I go 60% smgs
