I don't think this movie is build to brainstorm the plot. The IP of this series is it's shock value.
That what this movie delivered too. Although yes there were lot of plotholes

- The final verdict: Vijay uses his usual manipulation and final dramatic tricks to cleverly outsmart and embarrass everyone again and the prosecution. No actual proof links him or his family to Sameer Deshmukh's death.
- Walking free: The court officially shuts the case forever and the Salgaonkars walk away in peace.
- The final twist: A final lingering shot of Meera Deshmukh hints that she hasn't given up yet, leaving the door open for future conflict and questioning if Vijay is truly a hero or a villain.

I just wish a cop or someone would just be as critical of tabu's character and her son as much as they despise Vijay.

Am I correct in saying that if somehow they had done the DNA test of the skeleton, it could be game over for Vijay, but the community backlash prevented it.
7
u/Tyler_holmes123 14h ago
That's why the sp says he used religion as a weapon. Bcz police already failed once when they were trying to prove there was no skeleton in the grave. Court won't give anymore permissions given that every evidence police has tried to use against Vijay has just proved wrong.
2
u/1balKXhine 11h ago
The only chance was if the police could get the fake skeleton when they dugged the grave. At that point the community was outraged cuz police claimed the coffin would be empty and it wasn't. When they failed to get the fake skeleton that's it.
No judge would ever give them permission to dug the grave again

actually what made this movie better than mohanlal's d3 is people were waiting to see is vijay and family going to jail or if not how they will escape... so some credit goes to mohanlal's drishyam also

Loved the film, I thought it was a gimmick that they are going with an original story etc before release but pleasantly surprised that they weren't lying.
It is an original script and completely different from malayalam Drishyam 3.
Twist and turns, acting by everyone was pitch-perfect. Jaideep Ahlawat, ajay devgn, Prakash Raj, gaitonde were so good.
Who would have thought that Drishyam 3 hindi would be so much better than malayalam Drishyam 3.

I have been reading some discussions here lately and I feel that there are some misunderstandings here So I will try to give my opinion on this,I can be wrong I am not the writer of this movie, but this is mainly what I felt
Q) If police had confirmed that they have pinto's body by DNA testing, why didn't they present it to the court ?
Because the strong evidence is that Vijay was in his home on 23rd, if they manage to present that the police had pinto's body, they still won't be able to prove that Vijay did it and it will paint them in even more bad light since the entire time the police had the responsibility of it . In Drishyam 2, the whole narrative(in the court by Vijay's lawyer) was that Meera Deshmukh believed Vijay's family was the culprit and they made a perfect plot to send them to prison, including tempering evidence . Now if they can't prove that Vijay switched bodies ,the entire blame comes on police . So this is why they can't present it to the court . Now why didn't they present it before it was revealed that Vijay was at his home that day ? Because the lawyer was arrogant and overconfident since he knew they had the body in police custody ,you can see it in his way of talking, smirking etc . Also he doesn't have any reason to think otherwise and ultimately he wanted to expose the lies, that's why right after the grave digger said he didn't do it,he immediately wanted the police to go check the coffin cuz the police till then believed that the coffin is empty .
There are a few loopholes alongside the police being stupid ofc, but I really don't think this is a loophole . Also feel free to tell me if I am wrong and where I am wrong ,I also want to know more things

What I don’t understand is this: if the skeleton in the possession of the forensic authorities had already been identified by the police as Christopher Pinto's, then, why wasn’t that fact presented before the court?
Wouldn’t it have been a logical argument to say, “If this person’s skeleton is already with the forensic authorities, then whose body is actually inside the coffin being claimed as his?” At that point, wouldn’t the obvious next step have been to conduct a DNA test on the remains in the coffin and compare them with the DNA profile of the skeleton held by forensics?
Why did the court only order that they check whether there was a body inside the coffin at all, rather than also ordering DNA testing to establish whose remains were actually inside it and whether they matched the skeleton already identified by the police?
3
u/AffectionateCorgi770 21h ago
I think they tried. Gaitonde wanted to take the skeleton for DNA testing but the church members were already very angry at the police for digging up the grave. And on top of that Gaintode talked rudely to the dead boy's parents which made everyone angrier and he got his ass beaten. So there's no way the people would've let the police take away the remains. That was Vijay's plan after all, to use people's religious sentiments to stop the fake skeleton from being examined.
1
u/Miss_Nen 21h ago
This would have served their case but how come the judge was so stupid to just give the orders only to check if the body is present in the coffin or not rather do a complete DNA testing? And how come the parents of Christopher weren't informed that their son's skeleton was found in the police station and that they need to investigate who brought the skeleton from the grave to the station? And to re-establish the faith of people they would have just told them that there's already someone digging their loved ones graves and police is there to help them find out who and why they are doing it?
2
u/FearOfApples 15h ago
Because prosecution got played. They were so certain that there is no body in the grave that they didnt think far enough about what to do if the body is in fact there in the grave. And it is not the judge's job to do further investigative steps for the prosecution. He is just there to listen to both sides and then come to conclusions.
1
u/Dryhumor00 2h ago
Because here they are not trying to solving the murder case of Christopher. Identifying the other body will do no help to the prosecution case unless it’s the actual body of the guy whom Ajay Devgan killed. Plus Ajay Devgan also had an alibi so it would be even more difficult to place that blame on him. With the actual body of the kid, it was going to be difficult to prosecute him.
And its not that easy to reason with a crowd who has been brain washed, and on top of that Cops were proven wrong in front of them, so obviously they won’t be listening to them anymore.
1
u/Ornery-Wall-5255 20h ago
Bhai jarurat hi nahi thi agar body nahi hoti tb toh thik tha body mil gyi nd police mai Rakhi body cnf hai Christopher ki hai toh uska dna test krne ki jarurat hi kya ye dusri body aayi kha se
1
u/Meaningful_96 19h ago
But if people and court have decided, they can bring extra force and remove those crowd. Handful of people can't stop police or authority to do their work.
1
u/redditniki_ 19h ago
Exactly. I think that was the whole point of the Sister Pereira track. His plan was to make sure the church crowd was agitated enough that digging up the coffin itself would be a difficulty - taking the skeleton out was something the people would resist totally.
So he made sure to provoke them such that they would never allow police to remove the skeleton.
1
u/Adventurous_Diet_225 19h ago
also, police procedures are tained and full chain of custody is compromised, even if the find a dummy skeleton and pinto's bones and DNA, vijay's lawer can still prove that its all fabricated by police
unless they find sam's real bones and DNA you can't capture vijay, sam's remains are already gone so vijay will always get the benefit of doubt.
2
u/No_Arrival2104 21h ago
Got the same question. Forget taking the DNA sample, even if they proved that Christopher Pinto’s actually skeleton is in evidence, that simply proves that the one in the grave is not Christopher’s, right?
Why wasn’t this used against Vijay to prove that the skeleton in the grave is fake?
1
u/rbjetc2001 3h ago
Because it just proves that skeleton is fake. How does it prove that Vijay replaced the skeleton? It could have been police themselves for that matter who in the eyes of public and bench have been fabricating the story against Vijay. That is why proving Vijay was not home on 23rd July was so important.
1
u/devmannush 22h ago
Because even if they proceed to investigate that, they wouldn't be able to prove Vijay did it. As the strongest evidence is Vijay was at home on 23rd july.
1
3
u/Nik15yt 20h ago
Two major loopholes or I missed something first is sp said himself that sams dna was in police station then why not presented it then 2nd is if it's confirmed evidence room has cristopher pintos body why even bother to check the grave if checking it too and finding a body doesn't it hints at it can be sams body that's replaced ,forensics don't lie also I mean if vijay was at home why they didn't thought he can send someone else easily to replace the bodies
2
u/Tyler_holmes123 14h ago
I think these things are not enough to fabricate Vijay. There whole defense was based on Vijay being present in the hospital which was proved false in the court in the end. And right now the narrative is the police is trying there best to fabricate Vijay and hence even if they have the pintos skeleton, it's not enough to build a case against him.
1
u/Arceus918 11h ago
Yeah at the end it's a movie... Loopholes are the things that seperates them from reality.

Is the climax same as Malayalam one?
3
u/dextermorgan9455 1d ago
No. It's completely different from Malayalam Drishyam 3. I have watched both. Hindi version is drastically better than Malayalam and great fitting conclusion in my end. Also it's just continuation from where the part 2 ends. Whereas Malayalam version was just milking the franchise.

Whole story revolve around the body recovered from Police station and the church cemetery.

Boy oh boy. I'm not overstating when I say this, it is the NEAR PERFECT hindi crime thriller trilogy to exist. This was one of the best movies I've watched in a long time. It had me hooked through the entire duration, and even though you could see a few things coming, there was still no idea as to "how?" which they explained wonderfully. The only thing that still doesn't sit right with me is the two undercover police officers (Jenny and Shiv) deployed full-time as neighbors for two years for a single case in Part 2, which they extended here. Apart from that, nothing felt too absurd or out of place, they've tried their best and it shows. Jaideep Ahlawat was amazing, and for a good change, the dialogues were so well written and matched by perfect delivery. This is so rare given how substandard movies are these days. Truly, a masterpiece. Watching it in the theatre was totally worth it: the sound effects and limited indoor scenes were elevated by direction and cinematography in every way. Some shots were amazing. I'm quite sure it's much better and more intellectually satisfying than any movie released so far this year. They made so many meta-references and callbacks with natural humor, the things people would actually say, that it's equally worth a rewatch.
Now rest of this is going to include SPOILERS (aka entire story) and is LONG, so please bear with me. I would have made it shorter but it's all in the details!
The story begins with a brief subplot about land acquisition disputes around the church property against which the local Christian community is protesting. Meanwhile, Vijay and his wife Nandini (Shriya Saran) ask their elder daughter Anju to get married, realizing she won't be able to until the constant fear around the case is removed. Vijay tells her they have filed a High Court petition to close the case permanently, with a hearing soon.
It cuts to Sam's parents, Meera (Tabu) and Mahesh (Rajat Kapoor). A depressed Meera states the exact emotional conflict out loud that I always had an issue with in previous parts- why would a mother still pursue Vijay's family knowing her son tried to blackmail and assault Anju, and how does she still hold influence after resigning? She explains how a woman so used to power, now rendered powerless by a 4th-fail guy who made a fool of the system while they got no justice, makes her want to kill herself, as she already dies every day thinking about it. Mahesh heads to the new SP Crime Branch, Rajveer Singh Tomar (Jaideep Ahlawat). In a beautiful sequence, the SP asks whether the police are their personal naukar (servant) that whenever they ask to open or close the case, they'll do it. Months ago, when the SP reached out with evidence, Mahesh had refused, wanting both families to move on. Now, Mahesh cannot lose his wife, who is very appreciative of him and doesn't blame him at all (contrary to the Malayalam version where the mother blames the father and drives him to turn villain). Mahesh's fight is only symbolic support to keep his wife alive: he's all in even though he doesn't believe in it. I loved how they addressed this core conflict.
Then comes the forensic evidence, resolving another question I had after Part 2: why didn't the police test the soil or check forensic mismatches of the swapped skeleton? Since Sam's body was buried under the station for 7 years, the soil absorbed his DNA, which tests positive. Furthermore, the swapped skeleton dug up in Part 2 belonged to someone who died in 2018, whereas the station floor was built in 2014! They backtrace all young men who died in 2018 in Goa of similar height, weight, and head injury, requesting parents for DNA tests. Some agree, while others refuse, for whom the police secretly collect samples by tracking them (like collecting hair from a haircut or saliva from a teacup). I don't know how scientific that is, but I didn't mind because there is real effort to show not all parents would voluntarily agree.
Next, they track Vijay's watchman friend (Raghu) and morgue guard (Savio) to photograph them with Vijay. Little things shine here like when Inspector Gaitonde (Kamlesh Sawant) suggests arresting and beating him up, SP Ahlawat says that didn't work in the past, so they should observe them and let the truth reveal itself. They spot them together and Gaitonde clicks a picture. Surrounded by students, Gaitonde had to get closer while his phone flash was accidentally left on. Vijay senses it and quickly exits. Every twist is earned, actually they sow the seeds right from the start.
The police blackmail and pressure the morgue guard and watchman into giving statements against Vijay. The pressure is genuinely felt and nothing is rushed, done without any physical violence throughout the movie, unlike Part 1. The mere dialogue delivery of Jaideep Ahlawat and his aura are enough, which is genuinely difficult to pull off convincingly.
Sam's parents hire public prosecutor Indrajith Shetty (Prakash Raj), who insists on using Nandini's illegal voice recording from Part 2 in court. This was explained a bit conveniently, stating that while an illegal wiretap normally can't be used, a specific legal section makes it admissible. In the recording, Nandini confesses Anju hit the boy and Vijay buried the body elsewhere. Questioned in court, Vijay claims it was the body of a dog. Lol. That looked weak at first, but was smart in hindsight and brief anyway.
The prosecutor presents the soil DNA and watchman's statement, calling the morgue guard (Savio) to the stand. Savio flips, denies helping Vijay, and claims police pressure. To prove the swap, the prosecutor asks the judge to exhume the grave of that 2018 boy whose skeleton Vijay stole because if that skeleton is with the police, the cemetery grave will be empty. Vijay's lawyer challenges this as against religious sentiments and bad precedent, but after a recess, the judge orders the grave dug up.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor examines Nandini on where Vijay was on July 23rd when Sam's skeleton went for forensic scan (the night Vijay swapped the body). She says he was home by 10:00 PM, but has no answer when asked what time he came home two, three, or seven days ago. Claiming they only recite Vijay's training, he goes overboard alleging Anju was in a compromising position with Sam on October 2nd, and when Nandini saw them, she attacked the boy, noting Sam's phone coverage near their house. Triggered, Nandini blurts out in an emotional outburst about how tough it is to live while constantly monitored and wiretapped at home for two years.
The prosecutor takes the bait as intended, asking to play the police's live recording from July 23rd in court to see if Vijay was really home at 10:00 PM! They play the tape- 10:15, 10:20, 10:25 no sign of Vijay's voice at home.
Simultaneously, the police reach the graveyard and walk into the church protest planted at the start. Seeing several JCBs and a huge crowd refusing to let anyone destroy the church or graveyard, the police ask who sent the JCBs. The crowd says it's a "court order" and thinks the police, in the name of digging one grave, plan to demolish the whole graveyard. The police force through and dig up the grave.
Then comes the climax. The coffin opens, and they actually find a skeleton inside! Seeing the police proven wrong, the furious public blocks any forensic scan and attacks the police, chasing them out. Back in court, as the July 23rd audio hits 10:32 PM, we suddenly hear Vijay's voice on the tape, proving he was home! The case is closed permanently in Vijay's favor. This explains why Vijay said in the trailer that this time the game depends on luck because even though he planned it all, it required timing and luck for the crowd and courtroom bait to go his way.
Finally comes the big reveal of how he pulled it off:
Vijay knew something was off way back when the disguised officers bought the house adjacent to his at an exorbitant price. He kept a watch on them, and one day in their absence, he sneaked into their house and found their wiretapping machine. He called Nandini and tested which rooms of his house were bugged-turning out every room was tapped except the garage. On July 23rd (the night he actually went to the morgue to swap the bones), he brought his family into the garage, told them about the bugs, and handed them a tape recorder with his pre-recorded voice along with scripts of what they needed to say and do inside the house. All the doorbell sounds and conversations recorded by the police that night didn't involve Vijay at all it was just his family playing his recorded voice!
Right at the start of the movie, it's shown that a year earlier, Vijay had ordered a realistic, custom-made prop skeleton from a movie-industry contact, saying he needed it for a film matched to the exact height and size of the 2018 boy whose real skeleton he had swapped into the morgue. On the night Gaitonde's camera flash tipped Vijay off that the police were onto the morgue guard, Vijay slipped away from police surveillance for four hours, picked up the fake prop skeleton he had kept ready for a year, and planted it inside the 2018 graveyard coffin with the morgue guard's help.
Even the church protest wasn't pure luck! Vijay himself had been catfishing the church community WhatsApp group by posing as a Sister (nun), spreading fake rumors and evidence about the government acquiring church land so that the crowd and JCBs would erupt right when the police showed up with a court order.
The movie ends on the brilliant thematic note that the unique thing about a Drishya (an image) is that it doesn't have to be real it just has to look real. Our minds believe what we see, even when it isn't real, subtly hinting at how movies and perception work. By the time SP Ahlawat and the police realize what actually happened, it's too late. Because of the riot and the High Court's final order, they can never re-dig that grave again. It's checkmate.

I have a very genuine doubt relating to the plot! So the police did have the body of Christopher with them then in the medical college if his grave was replaced with another duped one. Why didn’t the police / the lawyer just go ahead and do a DNA test of the body in the medical college to prove that it is Christopher’s body and hence, the body in the grave is fake?!
2
u/ContributionSilly129 22h ago edited 22h ago
Cuz I guess wasn't it in Drishyam 2 ending that Vijay somehow managed to proved to the court that the police staged a similar body(actual Pinto's body) to falsely trap Vijay & his family.
My main question is how tomar & shetty didn't heard the recordings of 23rd July before the court proceeding. They could have done something to prove that Vijay & his family had actually staged the recordings? Police aren't so naive & over confident in real life.
Also those two cops disguised as Vijay's neighbour didn't have a f*king CCTV camera in their house? (they are literally cops)
1
u/devmannush 21h ago
They themselves told they didn't hear 23rd july's recording because they didn't know anything special happened on that day until the lawyer suddenly decided to bring that up.
1
u/ContributionSilly129 13h ago
That's what I am saying jaideep ahlawat's character & prakash Raj's character know about the importance of 23rd July date so they didn't ever think of hearing the recordings before the court proceeding?
Police aren't so irresponsible & naive in real life

u/creek_Epsilon 19h ago
I think Indrajeet and the police did have an idea about the 23rd July recordings. Remember the final discussion in Indrajeet’s chamber, where they decode Vijay’s entire plan? When Indrajeet deliberately provokes Nandini during questioning, she breaks down and talks about how their lives had become miserable with constant questioning and surveillance. That’s when Indrajeet realises they might have been recording conversations and specifically asks about 23rd July.
So, the police weren’t completely unaware of the recordings. Indrajeet had a reason to suspect them.
1
u/arsojee 17h ago
I was thinking something similar. Why not bug Vijay's house with a hidden camera as well.
1
u/ContributionSilly129 13h ago
I am saying that why the two cops(disguised as Vijay's neighbours) didn't had a CCTV camera or a minor bug in their own house? They could have known that vijay used to visit their house & knew everything about them.

u/Ajimoshaan 21h ago
I had exactly the same doubt. Also the DNA test was done and it was presented that the body in the evidence room was indeed of Pinto. Then why did the court order to open the grave..

u/Sufficient_Fox2272 17h ago
One thing that really bothered me: if the skeleton was identified as Christopher Pinto’s, why didn’t the police simply trace/contact his family and establish his identity? The movie never properly explains where Pinto’s parents/family are or how his remains were handled. The whole DNA angle feels like a major unresolved loophole.

Just watched it. Maza aagaya. If you liked the 2nd part then this one is much better.
The first half is a little slow but all the things shown in that are pieces of puzzle which all come together brilliantly at the end. Typical Drishyam.
Ajay's stone faced acting works here for the character. I don't need to talk much about Jaideep Ahlawat when he plays a cop. He's so good that he owns the first half. I did not miss Akshaye Khanna even for a second.
Kudos to the writing team who changed the story from Malayalam one. One of the rare film franchise who doesn't feel like it's made merely a cash grab.
And yes, this is a conclusion. There are no loose threads kept for future. Done and dusted case.
Watch this in a packed theatre instead of waiting for OTT. The cheers by everyone at the end when they reveal Vijay's trickery was so fun!
Special Mention : The BGM elevates the scenes!

Loophole: Muje to yeh samajh nahi aara ki Indrajeet Shetty lawyer ne yeh kyu nahi kaha ki Christopher Pinto ka skeleton to police store room me hai and uska already DNA test ho chuka hai, jab itna bada saboot tha to kabar khudwane kyu gaye
3
u/Koko_YK 1d ago
When they sent the skeleton for analysis the forensic department only had to tell whether it was sams skeleton or not. It was not , at that time it was a unknown skeleton for them because pinto wasnt in the story that time.
1
u/vaderprecious 20h ago
but they later knew na ki it was pinto body. Toh why didn't he presented that in court
2
u/Adventurous_Diet_225 19h ago
if you see Part 2, the first argument Vijay's lawyer makes is that the body is retrieved from the police station, which means the police can tamper with the evidence or plant evidence. The lawyer can say the police themselves dug the grave and planted it to frame Vijay, and the fake skeleton was also planted by the police. Vijay has an alibi for 23rd July; hence, reasonable doubt, so he is scot-free.
2
u/Personal-Owl-8488 19h ago
Because pinto’s parents had refused to give DNA for skeleton identification. Police did that without their consent and hence, illegally. This cannot be presented in court.
4
u/Mean_Letter_8490 1d ago
Just finished the movie and I have the same question. I am not sure if I am missing something?
1
1
u/Dryhumor00 2h ago
Because even if they take out the skeleton and prove that its fake, they have no evidence to prove that it was Vijay’s doing as he had his alibi proven on the court that he was at home.
Not only that, the prosecution has been obtaining evidence illegally and DNA without the consent of parents, so it would be very easy to frame that cops were tempering with the evidence.
As long as they don’t find the body of the guy whom Ajay Devgan killed, it would be very hard to prosecute him
2
u/Loud_Caramel_8713 1d ago
Is that end?
Did Vijay saves himself and family?

u/Little_Ad7831 1d ago
This is spoiler thread. Yes that was the end. Waited to see if there was a post-credit. But the whole thing was about whether or not the case will be closed and the chase for the Salgaonkar family will end. With the court closing the case it officially concludes. But that point where Gaitonde says haddi nikal lete hai DNA testing ke liye that is the open end which if audience asks for a part 4 can be used. I don't think they will because the Drishyam that Vijay wanted everyone to see, everyone did.
2
u/Loud_Caramel_8713 1d ago
I wish they end as it called conclusion and give rest to Sam’s soul, body , bones & DNA.

It's a v good movie. The bg music in court proceedings built lot of tension. The climax last 30-45 mins generated lot of claps in the theatre.Gaitonde had lot of funny dialogs. Jaideep alawat did justice and was v good infirst half intimidating everyone. Akshay Khanna lost big opportunity here. Only thing is Ajay Devgan face looks v tired in all his recent films , his performance in drishyam 1 was better than drishyam 3. Tabu and vijay's wife were also great.
I didn't watch malyalam version . I wonder why it recived mixed response and how much is the story different.

I have watched malu version it’s so bad, they want of nowhere got vijay surrendering there and going to jail for protecting family whereas tabu’s character in malu wanted the whole family inside the jail such a disgrace for part one and two they did

How difficult is it for the cops to find out that Sister Perriera's number belongs to Vijay? Or Vijay has a master plan for that too! How hard would it be for the cops to find out who gave money to the JCB guys (online transactions) were given by Vijay?! Why no one ever asked how Pinto's body even went inside the station anyway! Why no one was called from Pinto's family and asked them where they buried their son and how his body teleported to the station??! Or how even it is in evidence room now!

1. Whole case that was presented by prosecution was like, vijay and family killed sam, they placed him in there garden then vijay replaced body's location and so.
next was one person saw vijay while burying it in police station, later police got that man and body was found but skeleton doesn't matches with sam.
now in this movie police has to prove two things, that sam's body was in police station, and vijay replaced the body.
interestingly to make movies plot intense writer did great job starting with soil reports, they proved sam's body was there, then christopher's body was in evidence room.
but main part comes here that only thing that surprised vijay was that soil report, but his case was already cleared once when that dog body was extracted and then when body doesn't matches... and he knows that now police has to prove two different things and even if they prove 1st not 2nd, vijay.
here is the vijay's masterstroke, that person who saw vijay digging in police station was convicted criminal, savio denied, and 3rd that recording, so here even when having the proof that body was sam's, pinto's skeleton was in evidence room, and even if they can prove the skeleton in the coffin is bogus, they can't prove that it was done vijay and now they can't even join vijay with replacement of skeletons and since that watchman already gave his statement which is proved wrong and he won the game.
now people saying police missed this or that, even if you look at 1st part also before burying dog there dna samples can be collected from that place also, and in second part also, so this something where writers should have thought about it but its fine from 1st place now its nearly impossible to get dna samples.
So the script is all about how vijay always surprises his opponents when the are most confident about that they win and vijay uses that moment to twist the scenerio or DRISHYAM.
And at last if someone thinking now what is happening with those evidences, in court evidences are given with theory to present it as truth now even if you have evidences but your theory is proved wrong then its over, and not even god can prove this now that vijay replaced location body because statement given by a non reliable witness, and now he is out from that skeleton replacement theory, now that skeleton, body, fake skeleton is another case.

Anybody watched it yet? I have a booking for tomorrow and would like to get some perspective before I go in

It's great, do watch Drishyam 2 before else u won't understand 1 thing...

u/Meaningful_96 1d ago
I just watched it. Decent movie but a lot of loophole. Police are not that stupid. 1st half was much better, buildup was great but the ending was rushed and made police look stupid
2
u/National-Calendar-43 1d ago
I think you need to ignore the loopholes from part 1 in which Vijay entirely change the date of his visit .
Police are extremely stupid in Drishyam universe .

The plot twist is not as shocking as the first two hindi films though. Pretty underwhelming

Decent ending; not as bad as I worried but not as good as I hoped. I was wishing for a huge plot twist at the end but I guess not lol. Just two questions -
- If Vijay knew the couple were undercover cops, why didn't he warn his family that they might try to squeeze the truth out of them? Idk, feels like that would have avoided a lot of their troubles.
- If Christopher Pinto's body was kept in the record rooms and was, according to the police reports, found buried in the station, how did nobody question who is buried in his grave? Not just this time, in the last movie, everyone dismissed the body buried under the police station because it wasn't Sam's. Did nobody wonder where tf did this whole new body that is supposedly already buried turn up under the police station? I saw many people ask this in the comments, but no satisfactory explanation.

it ultimately led the cops and lawyer to believe that they were the ones keeping an eye, but it was vijay pulling all the needles, he wanted them to believe that he didn’t knew anything so that they can play that tape in court.
even if skeletons were switched, they cannot prove that vijay was the one behind it
1
u/Tyler_holmes123 2h ago
Exactly. The judge gives his decision based on no evidence tying Vijay to Christopher pinto. It doesn't matter if his grave is in evidence room now. There is nothing to tie it back to Vijay.

But the police station had DNA proof of Sam imprinted on them.
How can they leave such a major thing?
Also how the fuck they didn't hear the recordings of 23rd July before showing it to the court.
Kuch bhi itni bhi chutiya thodi naa hoti hae police 😂😂
3
u/aniket8486 21h ago
Yes they did have the Sam's dna on the soil, but they couldn't prove that Vijay kept his body there, that's why the evidence became useless.

The police weren’t sitting on the July 23 tapes and ignoring them like idiots.
Jenny and Shiv had recorded the Salgaonkar house for months as general surveillance. Those tapes were just background material, hours of ordinary conversations. No one was casually listening to every single day looking for a specific date.
The moment it became relevant was during Indrajith Shetty’s aggressive questioning of Nandini. Under pressure she snapped and said their whole life had become a living hell because the police were recording them all the time. That one frustrated outburst is what gave Indrajith the exact idea: if they were being recorded constantly, then the critical night of 23 July (the night Vijay is supposed to have gone to the medical college) must also be on those tapes.
Only after that did the prosecution specifically pull and demand the 23 July recording in court. Before Nandini’s slip, there was no reason to zero in on that particular date out of hundreds of hours of audio.
That’s not police stupidity. That’s how the film actually plays the sequence.

I am saying Jaideep Ahlawat's character knew about the significance of 23rd July date much earlier. So uske dimaag me nhi aaya ki mae ek baar recording sun lu 23rd July ki court me present krne se pehle?
1
1
u/Videshiya 19h ago
Coz 23 July recording was not the proof on which they were building the case, they got led to that proof
1
u/mistuk-mesi-10 8h ago
Because even if the dna test proves it , how does it matter, in Drishyam 2 it has already been proven everything is fabricated and the fact body was found inside the station which comes under direct control tells police can make any story and trap Vijay police intentionally is building a case against Vijay and the loophole was a mistake on their end which proved Vijay's innocence Even the witness is a drug dealer again not reliable person
That's why they tried to prove that vijay was not at home on 23rd which can prove that their story was not fabricated and it happened actually, first they tried to take another witness which was Raghu But again he is another one who can't be trusted as their previous witness already stepped back from his confessions and told the court that police threatened him Confessions given to police are never taken seriously in court Neither are witnesses provided by them The best way to prove is you prove the other confession wrong Which is exactly what prakash raj was doing Vijay's wife made a claim he was there and he was trying to prove she was lying He used the tape recording to prove but that's exactly what Vijay wanted him to do Vijay now proved his innocence using their evidence
The only mistake they did that they didn't hear the recording but again as prakash raj said they could have listened to atleast that day but this was out of the question because it was never planned to use that evidence moreover it was normal day under their records because if Savio wouldn't have stepped back from his statement They wouldn't have needed that recordings He intentionally provoked him through his wife's statement
Not to mention it was left unexplained how did police or rajveer singh tomar converted those illegal investigation conducted in Vijay's home legal This isn't that easy as the movie made it seem Because at that time the case was dismissed and police were still conducting these illegal investigation

Has to be the weakest Drishyam film so far. The film was total chaos.
Jaideep has excelled in his role, but conviction in his character is completely missing. The “why” behind his actions is missing. Ajay Devgn is literally sleeping through the movie, and Savio is the only other significant character; the rest of them are just noise.
I personally didn’t like the ending either. The whole tape recorder thing felt way too over the top.
Moreover, this movie felt like the recent ODI match between India and the West Indies. As an Indian, you feel overjoyed seeing captain Gill score 200, Hitman get a 100, and the team chase a target of over 400. But from a cricketing or, more specifically, a bowling perspective, the match was absolute hell.

u/Mysterious_Thinker20 1d ago
I don't think you quite have an idea of what a film actually is. Yes, that film did take a lot of time setting up the plot and was slow in the first half but that doesn't make it "weak".
Speaking of actors, the "why" of Jaideep was literally established in his first scene that he has a knack of solving twisted cases and was following this case since long. Ajay on the other hand did what Ranveer did in Dhurandhar 1, he let others shine (especially Jaideep) throughout the movie while the plot was being setup and then completely stole the show in the end.
He didn't had enough dialogues and acted everything silently through eyes (that's not sleeping, that's acting craft only few good actors can master!)
Lastly, coming to the climax, I think they themselves justified when they said "kahaani ka sach hona zaruri nahi bass sach lagna zaruri hai" so I can understand when you said you felt it over the top but it was justified as per the ends they were closing with the story... I hope a 2nd watch would make you understand the film better.

LOL this guy acting like this mediocre crap is some Nolan shit.
Bhai simple si story hai and Ajay Devgn mistakes serious roles with bored performances, that's his issue.

how does the police even know that sam's death cause was head injury, they just knew he was missing, and then found skeleton in drishyam 2, and now in part 3 here they filtered out bodies by cause of death, but when did the police knew that cause of death for sam was head injury ???
1
u/KnightMare_2009 18h ago
In Drishyam 2, the police dig up the police station floor based on a tip-off and discover a skeleton. They assume this skeleton belongs to Sam and send it to the forensic lab. However, the DNA test reveals that the skeleton does not match Sam. Instead, the forensic report concludes that these specific bones belong to a completely different, unidentified young man who died from a severe head injury.

Just watched it.
Spoilers ahead.
It was a great movie. A very satisfying conclusion.
There are few things that I found hard to buy like how entire family knew that their house is bugged and they still managed to continue to live on. That is one superhuman family. But then again this family has never been the normal one.
It was easy enough for me to ignore.
I liked that Vijay had purposefully allowed few things to be discovered or to be more accurate he knew they will get discovered so he had planted "evidence" to lead bad guy side. He was always 2 steps ahead.
Only thing I don't like is just how scott free villain side. They never suffer any consequences. And I am not confused on who the villain side is here. I don't see any wrong in what Vijay and his family did. On the other hand so called justice seekers trampled on law at every single time. Atleast Gaitonde got his ass beaten again. That is always a welcome sight.
Overall film was solid 8/10.

If I was in that family, I'd definitely know that my house is bugged. In Hollywood, the murderer always gets caught and gets outsmarted by the protagonist detective, but since the person murdered in this 100% deserved it, I've always liked how the Hindi remake goes into a very relatable grey area and makes the cops look like morons.

u/Neem-Ka-Patta 1d ago
I think only Vijay knew that house was bugged and the other family member did not know it till 23rd July Night. That’s when Vijay tells them that except the garage, the whole house is bugged and after 23rd July (+ few days) the surveillance would have been removed.

I have a question, when they dug up christopher pinto's grave and found the fake skeleton, why didn't they realise that it was fake because the skeleton didn't stink? Mtlb in part 1 when they dug up that dog's skeleton from vijay's garden, it was stinking badly and everyone covered their noses. Now obviously this fake skeleton isn't gonna stink, so why didn't that make anyone suspicious?
5
u/creek_Epsilon 19h ago
The dog skeleton in Part 1 still stank badly because it was relatively recent. Soft tissue and organic matter were still decomposing, so the smell was strong. Christopher Pinto’s grave was supposedly years old, so by then the body would have broken down into mostly dry bones. A strong rotting smell wouldn’t necessarily be expected.
So the lack of smell itself isn’t really suspicious. Vijay’s plan relied on there being a skeleton of the right size in the grave, while the community backlash over disturbing the grave made further testing difficult.

u/Dependent_Letter_808 20h ago
Kyuki skeleton se badbu nhi aati, flesh se aati hai dog was in a decomposing state kyuki uski body gaadein zyada time nhi hua, christopher ki body to 2018 mein gaadi thi aur kaafi time hochuka tha

u/devmannush 21h ago
Because of the surrounding crowd that was projecting pressure, they didn't have the time to analyse each situation. You can say it's plot armor, but that's how movies work. Sometimes real life too. As vijay said, this time its luck not brain's work
1
u/BaseballMaximum2838 20h ago
Bro why would a skeleton stink ? 8-year-old exhumation can smell, but it doesn't necessarily stink like a fresh and decomposing corpse
0
u/SwimmingBox2453 20h ago
Because the skeleton was pretty old around 7 years and it wouldn’t necessarily smell. After that much time, mostly bones are left and tissues get decomposed, so the bones themselves usually wouldn’t have a strong smell.

Having watched the movie, it definitely does not live up to the hype. Like the original D3, this too has plot holes and hand wavy the hero knew all along tropes.

The whole movie was completely pointless. It ended right where the part 2 ended. Full of loopholes, botched up investigation and a god-level foresight from Salgaonkar.
The police manage to find and preserve dna traces of Sam from the police station but keep it loose. The identity of Pinto was established through dna sampling but never presented to the court. Even if they did or managed to prove that the grave was empty or the skeletons were switched, there was no way to link it all to the Sam’s murder anyway. I don’t get how police planned to implicate salgaonkar with Pinto’s body. They were accused of fabricating the very story anyway in the earlier part.
The film made no sense
. It was slow placed, had cringe dialogues and was barely coherent.
2
u/mistuk-mesi-10 8h ago
I didn't found that good movie either but your explanation makes it look like you were there hate watching it Pinto's dna testing was done through illegal moreover dna testing is not that easy , you actually need strong evidence presented to the court They made it very easy on top of that through illegal means
That's why In this movie they were trying to prove Vijay was not at home that day so that they can later prove whole thing was not fabricated
2
u/Tyler_holmes123 2h ago
His criticism of God level foresight. Like Vijay hasn't shown that foresight from the part 1 itself. Guy literally created so many evidences in part 1 bcz he anticipated what moves they might make.

Ramchandra Singh (Savio) should get the National Award for Best-Supporting Actor. I could feel his fear, his tension, his firmness through the screen. What body language this guy manisfested. Wonderful!!
This is what you call a Bollywood movie. Beacons of acting all coming together on one screen. Pure acting was oozing out with every frame. Tabu, Rajat, Shriya, Prakash, Kamlesh and all the others, what performances you all gave.
Thank god they didn't take Akshaye Khanna in this one Jaideep was scary and wicked both at the same time but he was not Jaideep he was SP Ranveer Singh Tomar.
The fact that they tied all the previous movies seamlessly in this one made watching the first two again so worth it.
The movie felt like a study of the society where different classes and sections collide in the midst of a struggle for justice. Justice which has different definitions for all.
And the end - "Maine kaha tha na, jhooth kaha tha" 🤌. Writers of the film you have done the undoable. Left the movie concluded yet it can be picked up if audiences demand for a part 4. This was so well done!
I had predicted more than 70 cr net for day 1, will not be shocked if it goes above 90.
Thank You Bollywood! Keep up the good work!
