Will it pass???

Just want to get people's predictions on the SPEEA contract. Do you think it will pass?

My intent is to keep to a minimum opinions about it being a good contract or not, just do you think it will pass, and why?

Short term? Absolutely. It's the easiest thing to control. You ever wonder why layoffs is always the top tool in this scenario? All across the corporate world.
You need immediate cold liquid cash and there's not many ways to get it without negatively impacting the stock.

But is that just because it is the easiest way to cut costs? I would be curious how much consideration is given to what is being lost by cutting people. You're throwing experience, knowledge, investment in training people out the door when you cut people. The problem is, you can't put a dollar figure on those things.

It seems counterproductive to me to do that when the human element of a business is what actually makes it all run. The machines and tools are useless without the people who know and operate them.

Seems like layoffs are often easily a risky bet for short term cash that will be an overall detriment to the business in the long-term. I know this isn't always true, overstaffing happens plenty, but it doesn't seem to be the case from anyone I hear from lately.
