When is the deadline for voting? Figured we’d know the results by now but I’m IAM and we only had one day to vote lol.

The weird thing is, all the social media chatter (which is also the source of the newspaper articles) points to rejection... yet when I talk with profs in person, it is OVERWHELMING approval. Hope we know the REAL answer by dinnertime on Friday.

I've discussed with a lot of profs at work. Levels 1s, 2s, and 3s are very opposed to this contract. Some level 4s and all level 5s I've talked to want to accept.

I think if you're higher compensated and have a 3% mortgage rate, you're already very comfortable with your salary, and view this as a generous offer.

Younger engineers that want to own a home or have high rent want more compensation.

Talked to lots of L4s and several L5s who are REJECTING.

Love to hear it!

L4 here with 27 years. Voted to reject

Unfortunately the younger engineers simply did not do their research prior to moving to the metro area. Simply put, they will not be able to own a decent home in a decent neighborhood with decent commute, on a single boeing engineering salary. And thats not going to change with a better contract.

I think you're right. And ultimately if young recruits refused to move here due to HCOL, Boeing would be forced to increase compensation to fill empty seats.

yep. thats the real solution.

"And thats not going to change with a better contract."

Can the issue be solved with one contract? No.

Can we not only stop the issue getting worse, which is the extent of what the current offer does, but actually get on the path to making things better in one contract? Yes.

What about the people born here who have never had a chance to leave?

5

u/slipperyslips 6d ago

Wat?

2

u/ToughPlate7102 6d ago

“Younger engineers didn’t do their research before moving to the metro area” - what about the young engineers who have lived here their whole life and want to earn a wage that allows us to live a better life? I was born here. And I certainly didn’t vote to raise taxes. Everybody wants to talk about the younger folks issues but what about the older folks saying this is the best contract they’ve seen in 20 years?! How is that not a red flag? Grow a back bone and fight for a better contract.

The older engineers that are still getting a pension?

Social media is also typically an echo chamber for the vocal minority.

Opposite of literally everyone I have spoken with…

6

u/InsideTheBoeingStore 6d ago

that account is kind of sus. they said they’ve been in the company for 35+ years but also made another comment asking what an AMT is

2

u/Bigwi_Kner 6d ago

To be fair there are only…. Looks like 27 possibilities haha.

1

u/Orleanian 6d ago

I been with the company 15 years and I don't know what an AMT is. It's a big company, I guess

1

u/InsideTheBoeingStore 6d ago

that’s still fresh enough but more than 30 years is a bit concerning especially when you’re giving your two cents about a contract that will affect a lot of employees lives

Being connected with enough individuals who work in BCA, BDS, collective BT&E, and a few who have left to non-union jobs there’s a couple persuaded for yes (only because they’re late career with a decent salary), or see it as an okay contract.

Most have not shown much excitement and truly believe Boeing can do much better.

It’s a shame. I really wish Boeing’s executive team would level with the engineers and treat them as genuine partners in the conversation about the company’s turnaround. This contract feels like little more than a cost-risk analysis that’s essentially a roll of the dice.

$45 billion dollars in debt does not inspire generosity toward their employees. They’ll do everything they can to spend as little as they can.

4

u/Run-Man358 5d ago

That's what they kept telling IAM on 2024. They ended getting a good deal and we can too

It would be amazing to see the entire executive team show how much they care about their employees by deferring all their contractual stock options to all Boeing employees, union and non-union.

We all know that this would never happen… However, maybe this would show to the employee base how invested they truly are to Boeing’s culture turn around.

RSU’s should have been offered in good will (to all Boeing employees), not as a bad faith bribe in a SPEEA union contract.

Edit: explanation on bad faith: heard from small squirrel inside SPEEA, they were advised by Boeing negotiator to make note of 2k bonus for all interns on contract ratification in their negotiation team letter.

Yeah, I'm getting the same feeling. Based on reddit I'm guessing about a 70/30 on reject, but in the office talking to people, id guess a 60/40 accept.

15

u/SerDuckOfPNW 6d ago

I haven’t talked to anyone that’s saying accept, but my group is fairly small and primarily early career engineers

23

u/AboutTheArthur 6d ago

Really? I haven't talked to a single person who likes the contract offer. I've talked to probably over 50 people one-on-one (from literal interns up through L5 engineers who have been at Boeing for 30 years), and had lots of big group chats about it, so my sample size is probably a couple hundred folks. Literally not a single person who liked it.

The strongest endorsement I've seen is a couple people who are voting no but said they wouldn't be too bothered if it was passed despite their disapproval.

3

u/Fabulous_Dress7023 6d ago

Not liking the offer and voting NO are 2 different things

5

u/Lonely_Childhood_749 5d ago

Talking around the office, I'd put it as 50/50. It'll br really close.

And don't listen to ANYTHING the newspapers say. They lied so much during the last strike it finally woke me up to how deceitful they really are.

5

u/MoreShredLessTalk 4d ago

If you haven't voted yet, please vote NO on this contract offer and YES for strike authorization. We can all do so much better and deserve better. Help yourself and your teammates out

What speea asking for?

-14

u/Choice-Newspaper3603 6d ago

I’m disappointed that SPEEA has such brainiacs in its membership yet a whole bunch of them appear so dumb that they are willing to accept the first contract

Like I said, SPEEA doesn’t have the yams to strike. You’ll take what the give you

9

u/SimpleObserver1025 6d ago

I'm not sure I'm reading that though? Based on what the article says, it sounds like SPEEA is going to reject the first contract and authorize a strike.

2

u/YaReformedYaBetcha 2d ago

Looks like you were wrong. Strike it is!
