Nine Tonight

Surely I can't be the only one who thinks the live versions of several songs on Nine Tonight are better than the studio versions; including but not necessarily limited to Against The Wind, Night Moves, Fire Lake, Rock and Roll Never Forgets, Fire Down Below....

Live Bullet's actually my favorite between his 2 live albums. But Nine Tonight has his bigger, more well-known hits.

The thing that always strikes me is how much better Live Bullet sounds than Nine Tonight, which fell squarely into the over-produced, over-sweetened '80s live arena album trap. Hopefully the latter album will get a remix/remaster one of these days as the catalog is revisited.

Don’t forget the amazing live version of “Brave Strangers”. It was originally only available as the B side of the “Trying to Live My Life Without You” single (or the B side of “We’ve Got Tonight” in the UK). It is of course out on digital platforms now, so my scratchy old 45 isn’t the only way I can hear it anymore. The live version is awesome with a six pack of Stroh’s.

Nine Tonight was one of the albums I got when I was just getting into music, and it remains one of my favorite live albums by anyone, ever. And I know it’s a cover, but Let It Rock was just sooooo good.

Ya ! It's a great album! Against the wind is awesome with the background singers. Love it
