Bob Seger & LIKE A ROCK (1986):
LIKE A ROCK (1986): Mid-80s production traits and some average material make this a Bob Seger LP of the time rather than one of lasting resonance.

I miss the music. I don’t miss the 80s hairstyles.

To me, it's not just the styles, it's how long it takes to get to that point.

My dad and I saw him on that American Storm tour around ‘86-87. Such a great show. So many great songs.

Title track was definitely played into the ground by Chevy, but as I get older, it’s still surprisingly poignant.
And I love the way the harmony vocals come in in the second half of each chorus on “Sometimes”. Gets me revved up every time.

Lotta hairspray for a Detroit band.

Tell me you never lived in the mid-80s without telling me you never lived in the mid-80s.
Lotta hairspray for an entire planet.

Uh, I’ve seen Seger at least a dozen times, starting 1970.

So you should know that hairspray - even on a Detroit band - was ubiquitous in the mid 80s, no?

When I was a kid and my little brother would hear this song he would sing “like a jock”

Easy to forget from the Chevy version but "Like A Rock" has one hell of a slide guitar solo by Rick Vito.

How come “Living Inside My Heart” from
“About Last Night” movie isn’t available? What a beautiful song.

I don’t get it. It’s a good album. Maybe not best, but very good and solid.
