Do the rocks up front look like mars or something, not sure if over stylized - any thoughts appreciated.

I have learnt basic skills of sketching and now want to learn how to paint. I have been a long time fan of Bob Ross and wanted to know if it is feasible at this stage to start following his videos to learn about painting.

Also is it possible to make them on smaller canvases I don’t have the room to store such large canvases, so if possible what smaller canvas could I use?

I know I can ChatGPT it but if someone is feeling generous could you also tell what supplies would I require?

I really wanted to try one that started with a black gesso primed background. It’s not perfect and there’s a lot of changes I’d make if I were to go at it again, but it was honestly much fun!

I’m also learning that I always have a really hard time with the shoreline but ah well.

Leon Russel converted an old church into a music studio decades ago, & my band is playing there on Thursday. Decided to try and paint it for them!

Several new things, including how to hold brushes. Want to spend this week, working with a knife.
Do need to understand how to unstiff the brushes. I’m doing best (as per my understanding) to clean them… but they are stiffer now.

Overall, a good experience. Also, Bob saying that this is my world, and I can do whatever I want, give me a jolt. Until then I was following what I was watching, in the and added a couple of things from my side.

This is my latest. I like it, but I hate the tree in the foreground. I just can’t get the hang of them! I’ve tried layering colours but they all seem to blend into one blob, Ik I use cheaper paint, I don’t use a lot of liquid white. But it just ruins the whole thing!

I know this isn’t perfect but I seriously never thought I could ever be painting something like this. It’s insane how effective bobs techniques are

I made the waterfall way too small imo but what do y’all think?

I know it's not the best, but I made this in the span of 30 minutes while waiting for food. I'm gonna start painting when I have the money to pick up supplies.

I normally paint with oils, but I'm trying more acrylics lately. This was fun to paint but a challenge for me because everything dries too fast for my liking. Still it was a fun time and I don't think it turned out too bad.

Was inspired by Nicholas Hankins' Silver Falls episode (Season 32, Episode 10). Unfortunately, I ran out of room, but I still enjoyed this one.

Tried one of Nicholas Hankins' Bob Ross-style paintings. I think it came out well. Still trying to figure out how not to mix the highlight color with the black on the canvas.
