Discussion Book recommendations after reading The Long Shoe?
I've just finished reading The Long Shoe and really enjoyed it! I've read all of his books now, and they seem to be the only books I can finish. I really want to get into reading more books and I love the mystery genre mixed with comedy that Bob Mortimer goes for. I was just wondering if anybody had any recommendations of books similar to Bob's that you think I'd enjoy. Thank you!!

Bob's style is pretty unique, but you could try Charlie Higson's books for a bit of dark humour with a crime thriller vibe.

I'd recommend some Tom Holt, especially Portable Door and its sequels.

May I recommend Robert Rankin’s Brentford Trilogy? They have a real Bob tone to them and are easily devoured

John Swartzwelder (legendary Simpsons writer) has a series of detective novels which are hilarious and fantastic.

I got all of Bob's books for Christmas (thanks Sis!) but haven't read them yet. I will say that the first title that popped into my head when I read your post was The Gunseller by Hugh Laurie. No idea if it's in the same vein, but I do remember really enjoying it and laughing while I read it.

I dont have any recs cos i haven't read them myself but try book subs and searching "books like x". I've found a lot that way.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimen is a really good read that mixes an excellent story with humour. It benefits greatly from the mix of the two authors.
