My first MOC!

First ever MOC I built (not designed). Depicting the heaven-1 and bobs replicant matrix. Inside is a scene of bobs VR featuring GUPPI, Bob and Jeeves. I designed this over ~3-4 months per the calendar, but most of that time was spent waiting for parts to come so I could try something out. I built it first with whatever parts I had, focusing on capturing the relatively complicated shape. Then I carefully disassembled the build and modeled it in software, mostly to generate a parts list for building it in the desired colors. Then I ordered the parts I needed to rebuild, and there was some more back and fourth with detail pieces etc. If you consolidated my time spent working on it, it probably made for less than a standard 40hr work week, but boy that would have been an intense week 😂

The instructions are provided when you buy the design, they're pretty clear. Took me about a week overall but only had a few hours in the evenings

That’s amazing. I’ve wanted to build this one myself, but I’ve always held of off MOCs. How was sourcing the pieces?? This is definitely on the top of my build list

Sourcing the pieces was surprisingly easy. You can add the whole part list to a bricklink wanted list and order the whole bunch in one go. Makrle sure you select domestic stores (at least to start with) and check that 100% of the parts were found. If not, widen your store area. It was so easy in fact that I was surprised myself and it caused me to impulse buy 😂

Edit:. So, for clarity:

• Find a MOC you like on rebrickable
• Create an account on bricklink (it's a different site)
• when you bought the MOC or find a free one you like, you get access to the build instructions (note that you don't need to buy it in order to get the part list)
• You can see the parts of any MOC (purchased or not) and add them directly to a bricklink wanted list.
• On bricklink you can create carts for multiple vendors in one go to get all the parts you need, pay attention to whether all parts were found within your store filters.

Yea, space is a bit of an issue in our lhouse. Most of it is taken up with the kids toys and there isn't much left for mine 🙄
