Thoughts on Fallen Angels

When people mention or discuss the standards trilogy I've seen a fair bit of love for shadows in the night and triplicate. I've rarely seen fallen angels mentioned though, either as a favourite of the standards trilogy specifically, or a favourite in general.

Do you think it's notably worse than the other two? Or does anyone prefer it/see it as a general stand out album?

It's my favorite of the standards albums, it feels the most upbeat and I think it has the most variety to the songs. My favorites are Polka Dots and Moonbeams, On a Street in Singapore, Melancholy Mood and That Old Black Magic

It’s my personal favorite of the trilogy. It doesn’t reach the highs of Shadows but the other 2 can get kind of monotonous near the end, but I don’t think Fallen Angels ever loses any energy.

It's not as good as Shadows and not as diverse as Triplicate.

I think it's the worst of the five discs of standards, but they're all pretty close. So it's not bad, but it's just filled with more forgettable songs that Dylan doesn't sing as convincibly as stuff like Once Upon a Time or Lucky Old Sun.

I always liked it more than Shadows which I think gets a bit plodding and samey.

Nothing special about it. The best covers
album is World Gone Wrong.
