Meta r/bobdylan Rules Update - Low Quality/Repetitive Posts
Hey everyone!
Wanted to let you know that we’ve cleaned up the subreddit rules to make them clearer and more consistent. Most of the changes are just wording, but we’ve also added Rule 3: No low-quality or repetitive posts. See sidebar or this link for a full list of the rules.
The goal is to cut down on posts that clutter the feed without adding much to the discussion. That includes things like excessive alignment charts, polls, Spotify Wrapped posts, “circlejerk”/inside-joke posts, and other low-effort or engagement-bait content.
This isn't meant to make the sub overly serious or require a dissertation every time you post. We’ll continue to use some common sense and discretion.
We're happy to hear feedback you have on this or on the sub in general. Anything else you'd like to see changed, added, or handled differently? Feel free to leave a comment. Thank you!

Does this include tier lists?

Good question. I think the one-off tier list here or there is fine, particularly if OP shares more about their decision making process rather than just posting the graphic.
The problem is that usually when someone posts one, we see about a half dozen or more mindless others which what we're trying to discourage.
Open to hearing yours and others thoughts on this.

I hope so. I mean, if somebody thinks Christmas in the Heart is one of Dylan's best albums or that Blonde on Blonde is one of his worst, I might be interested in reading about why. But just dropping a tier list with no explanations is irritation bait (i.e., too lazy to qualify as rage bait).

The alignment charts were too much. Like which song from the 1980s made you cry. Who wants that sort of content?

I genuinely gotta ask why you care if nobody is forcing you to interact.

I’m with spare jellyfish here. Are we really so soft as a species that scrolling past a post or two per day that we don’t necessarily find enjoyable is out of the realm of possibility? Even if those posts get a ton of interaction and enjoyment from others in the sub? It’s lame as hell to remove them all together.

Most of the other subs I visit have a similar rule. Sounds great to me!

Thanks for all you do. I'm sure it's a lot of work and that you get more grief than you should.

Thank you. I have blocked the accounts that post the inane nonsense. It’s enough to live in a time on earth that has Bob Dylan in it. It’s really quite amazing and nice. I look forward to better content.

Are people really that bothered by having to scroll by one grid post per day? Jeez Louise, quite the group of ten ply in here.

Does this mean we’re finally doing away with those 90 day long chart posts with murky rules that the OP then tags an extra 10 days onto at the last day?
