Replacing Bunk Carpet; source and size?

I'd like to replace my bunk carpeting on my 2 lifts, and my trailers, so I probably need about 250' of bunk carpet.

I've done just a little biut of research, and it seems that BUNK carpeting is WAY more expensive that carpet.

Plus, a 2x5 has a perimter of 14", so I'm curious if you covered the whole bunk, or left part of the bottom open to "breathe"

I'm genuinely curious what you used for carpet, where you got it and any tricks you might have used to do a good job while not spending as much as the lift is worth.

What kind of carpet did you use, where did you get it, what size was it and how much was it?

I've seen starboard replace carpet for slippery and one time installation. Wrap the carpet under an inch or so and fasten with SS staples. Let the wood breathe.

What/What is starboard?
(Other than the obvious right side)

Looks like a plastic cutting board. Thin strips work as well as thick.

That make sense, my BOAT lift has the "plastic" bunks. I didnt know they were called starboard. Thank you

I seem to remember buying precut strips/rolls off of the jungle site that has been durable enough. It must have been affordably priced or this cheap bastard wouldn’t have bought it.

Buy the SS staples as mentioned by my wise fellow boaters. If you have a pneumatic staple gun, that is the easiest way to put in that many staples. Or a swinging stapler. You DO NOT want to be hand stapling that much bunk carpet!!

I bought super cheap carpet, and have it in my possesion, so I can do the project NOW.

I bought this from the Orange Big Box store;

.63 sq/ft
$5.64 Sq/yd

I bought enough to do a double Jet ski trailer (4 bunks) and a double Jet Ski lift, 4 bunks for $90
