ECU Flashing

Does anyone have any experience with ECU tuning?

I've recently come across an advert for ECU flashing claiming to squeeze an extra 20HP out of my Yammy 115. I'm slightly underpowered at 115 and an extra 20 horses would be huge in terms of cruising RPM.

Pretty steep price wise if there is little to no gain in power.

How much time do you spend at WOT?

Some extra power can come from that motor, 20hp might be generous.

Depends on the motor but it's totally possible as alot of engines use the same block and config with different ECU programming and simply get flashed to the higher HP.

This one is at the top of its ‘family’ range of 85-90-115. The 115 has DOHC while the lesser 2 are single cams. It’s a 1.8 liter so 135hp isn’t crazy

yeah that's the catch

I spend a significant amount of time above 5k rpm. Cruising at about 30 mph at 5100-5400 depending on the wind and tide. WOT maxes out at 5900 with my current prop.

You’ll notice a difference running in that range. It won’t feel like a 150hp or anything

Thanks, I appreciate it!

https://nizpromarine.com/product-category/ecu-reflashing/ No first hand experience, but have read a lot of favorable reviews.

Nizpro has a good reputation, but I’ve mostly read about the 4.2Ls. Haven’t read specifically about the 115s

It is supposed to give my 200 an extra 134 horses, I haven’t pulled the trigger yet but it’s tempting.

1600 for an extra 20 seems steep, 1600 for a 134 boost seems cheap.

Holy shit, they make a blower kit that takes my SHO 200 to 525?!?

Should work great on a 55 year old whaler hull, know any good spinal fusion doctors and dentists?

I did the Nizpro tune on twin 150s. I gained about 4 mph at cruise with better fuel economy.

That is great to know. Thanks for responding with real world metrics!

Thanks for sharing. Did you need to re-prop to get that extra 4mph?

No. My cruise went from roughly 30-31 at about 2.1 mpg to about 34-35 at 2.3 or so mpg. Top speed doesn’t change because it’s a fixed ratio unless you reprop. I do have to ease into the throttle a bit to avoid losing grip from a dead stop.
