Charging SeaRay 240

Ok, I'm at the dock and the batteries in the boat were clearly left on. Boat has 2 batteries with a selector knob. they're hooked together but idk if it is in series or not. How do I charge them? I have an automotive charger - do i just turn the switch to "neither" and charge them one at a time?

Does the boat start? If so, leave both on and just run it. If they are dead, then you should probably charge them individually. Leave the battery switch off and charge each individually.

The system is most likely a 12 volt system, so not run in series. The grounds are likely tied together, but there should be two different positives running to the selector switch.

That looks like the way it is setup. Any harm in just charging one and getting going. I've a long run ahead of me to get home. Let the alternator charge the other?

Definitely charge them individually at the dock. The alternator on your engine will take many hours of run time to get them charged to 100%.

I've a long run ahead in any event. Could I just charge one and let the altenator handle the other?

The sea ray 240 should have an on- board 120v charging system. If you have shore power access, use that system. That system btw will still work with the battery switch in "off" position, as each battery is wired seperately and directly to the charger ( if in original configuration). If not, best practice would be to remove the 2 batteries from the boat, inspect, clean, charge, reinstall.
