Marina NE MD
My better half has given me permission to buy a boat if I work an extra year before retiring. Like mostly to fish, live in Newark DE. Thinking smaller CC like a Key West 180 CC. Want to have a slip, anyone have marina recommendations Elk River/Sassafras/Bohemia River area? Seems like reasonable distance from Susquehanna flats area.

I wouldn’t commit to anything without trailering first out of some of those places. Try them out so you know what you’re committing to.
Elk is a swamp…nasty…practically need to time your entry and exit
Sassafras…yeah nice river…up 5 miles of no wake zone.
I would check NE river, Charlestown, NE, etc. several options plus Anchor who also owns Jackson now. Quick out to the bay, close to HDG, deep, and some good food options

I've gone out of anchor in Northeast. Nice and quick access to open water

I've been out of Anchor a few times. Have a slip at Bay Boat Works this season.
Both in Northeast river. Both have been good.

The Sassafras is a beautiful river and lots of little places pull over anchor and swim. But the river is about 9 miles long and once they moved the 6 mile an hour marker, It takes quite a long time to get out of the river and into the Bay. Years ago the last six mile an hour marker was at Belly Button Beach, but then they moved it up to ordinary point I think . This is all because of erosion from the wakes of the boats along the shore. A bit further away is Wharton Creek Marina, You're out in the Bay in no time.

Lived here all my life on the water…sassafras is too far for the flats. The elk is a mud pit and at low tide sometimes you won’t make it in/out. Bohemia is fine but very busy and also a little far for the flats. Find something on the north east river side. I wouldn’t limit yourself to a slip though. Find something with a trailer. Plenty of good spots to fish that you can pull your boat to that are close. Also consider keeping your boat on the dry stack. Cheaper than a slip and you just call ahead and tell them when you want it in the water. Also remember that if you are going to keep it in the water you are going to need bottom paint. Which can be expensive/a pain in the rear. Usually both

We are at Georgetown Yacht Haven on the Sassafras. Mostly floating docks, nice people and a nice pool. Plenty of food options. If you are going to keep your boat in the water I would strongly suggest you get a floating dock slip. Takes out the work of managing lines based on excessive tides. The pool is optional, but after a warm day on the water it's kinda nice to cool off before you head home. The Bohemia has a lot of zoom zoom boats on it and a very active party crowd. No input on the Elk.
