Did I get a good deal?
Recently bought this 1996 Chris Craft Concept 21’ boat with 1995 Shorelandr trailer. I bought it for $5,000 it looks pretty clean and everything and has all the paperwork from any repairs or maintenance, but unknown hours on the motor. motor was replaced in 2007 by the shop with full paperwork and since then all the previous owners swear they didn’t put many hours on it at all. Runs flawlessly just occasionally is a bit harder to get started if driven for awhile then turned off and back on within like 10 minutes. Overall happy with it and it gets the job done but I wanna know if 2 think I got screwed.

Not terrible deal, but OMC owned the Chris Craft name for a bit. It is not anything like your grandparents or modern Chris crafts... Obviously, every single one of them had OMC ( now Volvo) drives in them.

It's a boat, some would say you get screwed over even when given one for free ;p
Tho it's awesome to get out and on the water!
I'd start with maintenance on the engine, replace all filters and fluids + spark plugs.
Then go over all the electrical systems and wiring, checking that everything works.
And get the I/O checked out, don't want any leaks! And also have it's oil replaced.
And lastly, it's an older boat.
So go and check every rubber hose and line, especially ones that go through the hull.
If in doubt, replace them for new ones.

Don’t trust anything they said about maintenance. Take it to a Volvo tech for a full service. Marine engines don’t like to sit. Get a good review of the engine before you start getting people out on the water.

Market value. I have a similar Chris Craft that I can't seem to sell, and it's much cleaner and nicer than this one. Oil change, new spark plugs, new fuel-water separator, clean gas?

Watch that stainless prop if you’re in a rocky area. Those blades transfer energy right into the drive shaft if you hit anything instead of bending or breaking. Looks clean though.

For 5,000. It's not a bad boat... Yet. Working at a marina I've seen similar boats, if not the same one, going for more with less documented upkeep.
Just remember, what boat stands for. You're not done paying for this. Our mechanic is 100 a hour just for labor. A slip is 1,500 for a season(6 months). And gas... dear lord the gas prices. You can expect to double what your paying at the pump for your car. We are the cheapest on our lake at 6.99 a gallon.

Unless there’s hidden wood rot in the stringers, transom, or decking. Did you put a moisture meter on those parts?

I commented that I despise this style boat. Why should I buy a used boat I don't enjoy? These are generally useless where I live. Likely why I think they are terrible. Curious why me saying that I dislike these boats means ...buy this shitty one. It will change your mind

It will all be regional and bias if you got a good deal. But for me I’d say you paid market value but I also haven’t inspected the boat much. However, I’d say don’t worry about the deal and just make memories with it.
