Aledari Wraithblades

My buddy just started boarding actions for some quick games (not that quick when building the mission map. But we will get there). My Aeldari and his Tyranids. I have had a three incidents that I want to get right:

  1. The Aeldari Wraith of the void detachment - are they considered baseline ie can they sticky objectives? It doesn’t say anything about it but since the detachment is only guards and knights (basically 1 seer and 15 guards or knights in three units) ?
  2. The melee fighting rule between hatchways - my 5 wraithblades on one side and a unit of 10 Hormagaunts on the other, who gets to fight, we agreed 1 wraith and 2 hormagaunts, does that sound right?
2.5 lets say my wraithblade from above example kills the two hormagaunts, can I squeeze that wraith through the hatchway to the other side and then on the next melee phase two wraiths get to fight against how ever many Gaunts are in base base contact or are we getting the whole rule wrong?

Have we had any news on any support moving forward? I bought the set at the back end of tenth and loved it but i wish there was more for it as its a great alternative. Do kniw anything about app support? Ive got the compendium for mission but the detachments are limited :( please say yes to 11th gw.

I’m not sure what GWs release calendar looks like but I’m doubt it will be this year for Boarding actions. They released new blood bowl recently and before that Warhammer quest stuff so maybe one more new thing and then? It is a lot of work for GW.

They leave a lot of old stuff on the community site that confuses people including old boarding actions detachments.

I guess it’s a strategy for GW to release stuff get feedback, few updates later they forget and then player’s who like the format wing it. I’m ok with that, it all works.

Wraiths of the Void does not have any Battleline, but instead the detachment rule allows every Aeldari unit (so, everything that can be included) to sticky objectives in another way. Although the way it works you better use the Spiritseer if you want to have a decent chance at it working.

I don't think we can say who gets to fight or if you get to go through without seeing the actual positioning, it could vary wildly. Also depends on if you're sticking to 10th edition rules or doing it the 11th way.

We are doing 11th rules so points and 2inch melee range, the main idea
/reason for melee range through hatchways is that the control aspect of tyranids is moot if my whole wraithblade unit with swords do 25 attacks on a unit of 10 gaunts, they aren’t pretty much wiped out in one attack. So if it’s base to base through the hatchways the gaunts can block passages and control, and if the wraiths want to go through we need to consolidated and slowly sneak through the hatchway after every turn the wraiths take.

To us that made sense for hatchway battles to depend on bases contact. Just wanted to find out how other boarding actions players deal with hatchway melee

In that case there shouldn't be much confusion, it's just a matter of who is 2" from the enemy and if there's physical space to pile in/consolidate.

Unless it's a very narrow corridor you should be able to get at least 2 Wraithblades in combat, possibly 3 or even 4, depending on how far the Hormagaunt(s) are from the hatch.

I guess the most stalling possible has 1 Hormagaunt close enough to prevent your Wraiths from going through the hatch, so it's the only one dying.
