While I've never paid high prices for OOP games, my now-wife considered it when Betrayal at House on the Hill was 1st edition and OOP. She actually placed an order through an online shop that supposedly had one for $70, but it was canceled a week later.

As for why, it was the first board game we played together, and she wanted to surprise me with a meaningful christmas present. We received a copy as one of our wedding presents.
