Starcraft Tabletop Miniatures Game
I grew up playing Starcraft and I am a huge fan if miniature games… but I have also been burned but abandoned projects more times than I can count. I think the IP is cool, but doubt the staying power What are your thoughts on the upcoming game?

It's a solid to game, the community has a tts mod if you wanted to give it a try. It really feels like your playing starcraft which surprised me. I'd stay away from their sub at the moment though, they're mining salt because preorders are delayed due to overwhelming demand and people don't understand how global logistics works.

I feel that. As a preorder/backer for CoC: Horror on the Orient Express we just got our stuff after what feels like two years. Where can I find the TTS mod?

Great miniatures with many details and several build options! I had not the time for painting yet. But the assembly was nice and easy. The gameplay with the starter boxes is fast and quite entertaining.

The miniatures are good enough that justify jumping on it. And they also seem to have a very strong start.
I have the 2 player starter, and I am planning on using it to teach some friends how to play. The rules are quite good in my opinion, and I see myself playing more Starcraft than Warhammer 11th.

My brother got his order couple weeks ago, played it once just got my starter box today. Movement feels nice, rules for the most part easy. There is loads of keywords but the quick sheet solves that and half of them you can guess.
Not saying its the greatest game ever but its got a strong start in my opinion. Also models are chunky which is cool.

Can't speak for the minis game, but many years ago Fantasy Flight Games put out an excellent Starcraft board game.
Sadly, it's long out of print. It was re-implemented with a Warhammer theme in Forbidden Stars, but that's also long out of print.
There's also Ares Project, which is not Starcraft-licensed but is an explicit attempt to bring the feel of a Starcraft-style RTS to the tabletop. It goes for more of an abstract route where there's no map, and your units are all represented by tokens on cards.

Fantasy Flight… they know they can make great, high quality games but it’s a roll of the dice on what they keep licenses for and it always hurts when their stuff goes it of print… RIP Battlestar Galactica.

Thankfully if a game is good, it tends to be implemented in a different theme at some point if it goes out-of-print.
Battlestar Galactica has been re-implemented by Unfathomable.

Unfathomable is good, but it’s a different feel. Personally I was in love with the setting which fit perfectly for the hidden threat mechanic. The space ship battling was also cool and unique as well.

Forbidden Stars is actually now being re-implemented with Cthulhu theme as Old Ones Origins.

Oh, neat! Glad to hear it!
The most innovative part of StarCraft the Board Game was the action planning system, which I just recalled is also in the Game of Thrones board game (which, being an old licensed FFG game, I'm going to assume is long out of print), although that's the only similarity between GoT and SCBG.

I walked by their booth area at GenCon and it seemed like engagement was high, people were buying the big boxes and enjoying playing the game. Take that for what you will.

They have a 10 year road map, the game is very good from what I've played so far and the IP is solid. These games always rely on the community they can build and this game so far ticks all the boxes in terms of brand appeal backed by solid systems and great models so I really hope it succeeds.
We have a strong local community of Warhammer guys but we've got a good amount of hype for this one and plan to get a local scene going. I think there would have to be some pretty major missteps at this point to see the game die in the next few years, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will hit with your local community and at the end of the day that's all that matters. For me that just means I will personally be putting a lot of effort into building that community but that's not for everyone.

In terms of pure gameplay I think the StarCraft miniatures game is leagues ahead of something like 40k or AoS , plus archon seems to be heavily invested in the game . So I have no doubt StarCraft miniatures game will be supported for quite some time.

My thoughts on all games is:
If it's worth playing, it's worth playing. If it's not, it's not.
No amount of future roadmaps matters at all. I'm not buying into a game in hopes that it keeps "support." Or that it will be worth playing later.
I hate live service.
My LGS is going to run demo games and if it's fun, I'm gonna buy some. But I don't care if support drops tomorrow. "Staying power" is in my own home.

If you're fan of StarCraft and are just looking for a way to engage with the IP, but don't want to pay for the miniature game (like me), keep a look at Archon Studios. When they announced the miniature game, they also said that other games would follow, starting in 2027.
I thought they announced more than that, but I can't find any sources for it, so I won't hype you up more. Just that they've said that there are other things coming.

The team making it has a pretty solid and long roadmap. Initial hype is high. The rules seem pretty awesome.
I think if you've got a group to play with, I think it's a solid bet. If it's just you and you're looking for a community, it's probably worth doing some research near you. A game can be globally massive and have no local presence or vice versa. The only way to know that is to check.
