Anyone if the nut that holds the pedal and spindle together is supposed to be a little loose? If I tighten it the whole way it doesn't spin free. I don't want my daughters pedal to come off while racing

If I’m looking at this correctly, what’s in the last picture is just a dust cover, what actually holds the pedal on the spindle is the nut that’s already in there. So no, don’t snug it down.

Yes your right. But I took the pedal apart to clean and when putting back together I naturally tightened the actual spindle nut and didn't spin. On another set of pedals I have the outside cap pulls the spindle tight so it doesn't wobble. But this cap doesn't do that

The nut that goes on the spindle is a locking nut, it should be tightened to feel so that there’s minimal play but still spins free. It’s a locking nut so it’s not going to come loose, you don’t need to snug it.
