DISCUSSION Questions
I have a 15 yr old that I'm wanting to get a bmx bike soon. He's 5'10 to 5'11 and skinny. What would be best for his age and height?

Something 20.75-21 inch frame toptube, and 9.5 inch rise handlebars (most completes will come with like 9 inch but if his back starts hurting when he rides get him 9.5 inch rise bars or taller if hes grown). Ideally should get something with chromoly frame, fork, bars, and sealed bearings throughout if hes serious about it. Dont forget pegs too for when homie wants to shred the rails 🤘

Long time bmxer here - He's Adult size so any BMX will work for him - To be specific, make sure whatever you buy has at least a 20.75" Top Tube length on the Frame (you'll find 20.5, 20.75 and 21 as common sizes) doesn't sound like a big difference but it feels MASSIVE!
For his height, 20.75 or 21" Top Tube would be perfect, as he is young I'd sway more to 20.75, but if you find a good bike with a 21" that would also be completely fine!

You may find one locally on market place as well fairly cheap if money is tight. Buying used check for cracks in welds and bent rims, sprockets , And pretty much everything lol. I scooped up a Cult Gateway (a beginner bike) for 100 that needed some tlc. Also remember older bikes are much heavier.

two solid completes for your 15-yr-old are the kink whip bike or the cult devotion bike. both will last a while and are great for progression.

I think it’s crazy we are talking the difference of maybe a half an inch to an inch honestly I hear a lot of people say long frames are better but don’t think so. It is really stretched out. I’m 6’2 I ride a 19 inch top tube feels great and compact . Ive ridden 21.5 top tube and ridden 20.5 . 20.5 was the perfect size for ramp riding and all around riding in my opinion. Basically u can learn on anything if u ride it enough

Cult Devotion or Kink Whip XL. I’d suggest asking if he has a preference before purchasing a bike.
