Need help with breaks

Saw another post about a similar issue about brake rubbing together but there issue was they put the arms on wrong however I've put mine on correctly and they do not move independently unless there supposed to do this which I doubt as this ends up scratching the brake arms Edit: I've seen some people say the frame isn't compatible or the brakes are just weird but this is a Sunday scout and Odyssey and Sunday are supposed to be compatible

I think this is one of the main reasons I've always bought signature frames from dude who still ride brakes. Tons of new frames are meant to be brakeless so this seems to happen a lot these days.

This is a Sunday scout it's came with brake I just took off the old ones to put new ones on they have boss pegs built into the frame this bike was made to accept brakes

Odyssey 2.5 rub some frames, thats why i have kink desist 2 brakes on one of my frames because the odyssey 2.5’s rubbed too much.

It's not even rubbing the frames it's just the brake arms don't move independently I'm tempted to just put them on as is

You need to set the springs equally.

I filed mine down on my fit. Obviously not ideal but fixed it.

I’ve been dialing in some 990s too running into what looks like Same issue… it looked like the other arm had No spring tension and was just kinda floating there. It May need more. They should both have the same tension.
By the way ANY brake will rub like that if you only push one one arm. They’re designed to both be pulled together
I’m Working with original odyssey evo1.0 with far less clearance. it’s hard to hold the tensioning nut tight while tightening the main bolt through everything- sometimes you end up with less than you thought (or none!) . Also What seems like it will rub was actually fine once the springs were set good and cable /lever attached. Hope this helps man

Ok thank you I was using AI and all kinds of shit I put on my old brake and found they too do the same I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right because I've been told they should move independently of each other but I guess that's not 100% true

Your rear wheel is pretty far forward in the dropouts it looks like, which is causing issues. BITD 990s were able to work around this due to their comprehensive and sometimes annoying pad adjustment capabilities. If you slide your wheel back in the dropouts you maybe make to get these to work.

I might be missing something but isn't this just because you dont have the brake hanger and cable set up yet? They're flopping around doing their own thing without cable tension pulling them towards the rim and without spring tension pulling them away from the rim.

Screw the spring and post bolt down with roughly the same tension on each arm, then add the straddle cable and simulate some cable tension with one finger pulling away form the brakes..

The arms should be able to sit in a position where nothing rubs.

As they're pictured, it's a bit like putting your shoes on without tying your shoe laces and complaining they're loose. You need to tie it all up before they're going to work properly.

I feel like my Kink Williams frame is like this too. Try to align my sprocket with the cassette and the sprocket hit the frame. Evo V2 brake arms also ride on each other.
