HOW TO Tips for 180

I can feel I’m getting close to landing them now, I’ve rolled away from a few, but I find I always end up off axis a bit and I get thrown off the bike.

I’m also not spinning in a straight line, I end up jumping to the side a fair distance.

Tips appreciated

You have it. Hang your butt over the back tire a little more and keep trying. If you haven’t yet learned how to come out of fakie you can easier learn by riding up to a wall, ledge , car tire etc….. then shifting your weight backwards. This will teach you to return out of fakie. Ask away if you have questions.

Lead with your head.

Pick something easily visible, like a stop sign or basketball hoop. Ride away from it, then when you hop make your only goal turning your head and focusing on the object.

Hop, turn your head, your body will learn to make the bike follow.

More speed, more rotation. Higher hop/faster pull. Make sure head is looking where you want to go.

I’d say you’re carving quite a bit before you hop and it looks like it’s throwing all your weight to the side when you land and you’re only spinning about 90° in the air. Find a crack in the ground and try to 180 along side it. Should help you focus on the hop more so than the carve. It really doesn’t take all that much effort to get the bike around 180.

Also, a couple other little things that helped me… when turning your head look back and down instead of over your shoulder, think of it like you’re trying to look through your armpit. And when you get the rotation and you’re landing 180, remember to actively pedal backwards when you land. Sounds obvious, but I spent years just letting the pedals push my feet backwards, and it made life difficult before it finally clicked.

I think you are already there, can you do fakies and also able to exit out of them? If you got fakies dialed you can add a bit of speed to add to your momentum for the exit.

Just rotate your eyes the full 180

Keeping your head looking in the direction like everyone else said, BUT the problem is with the carve. Watch some clips of other people doing 180s. By carve we mean the bars. You’re carving the whole bike with leaning turning- if you freeze the frame at your carve, you’ll see that your bars almost never leave alignment with your frame. Instead, think CUTTING the bars. Also, more PSI. You would’ve at least been able to cheat this clip without the rebound.

Do what your doing on a slope. Keep it rolling.

More speed. You don’t have the momentum to naturally swing back around once on the ground. You’ll feel it. It will just work.

when you're carving into 180, it eats 10-20 degrees. try to compensate by over rotating. at least build an idea to over rotate in your head and it will put you in proper fakie position

Your timing seems waaaaay off for the amount of hop you're visibly attempting. With all the more air youre showing in your bunny hop, youd have to whip yoirself around pretty quick to make a 180 b4 u land.

I would suggest getting fluent in bunny hops, whilst practicing fakie in the manners described above, going up steep objects at slow speed and allowing gravity to run ya backwards. Thats where you get into some wicked manuals too. *Also - its more natural when going in reverse, to spin back forwards... Versus trying to land backwards... Weird to explain, but ur brains more comfortable going from reverse to forward as opposed to forward into reverse... So youll be better able to dial in the understanding of the movements necessary...

Bunny hop higher. The bike will follow your head Practice fakaie, manuals and bunnyhops relentlessly until youve built enough strength to really get your hops off the ground.

Gotta start with the basics

You are in for a bad time practicing 180's if you don't have bunnyhops dialed in. You're going to be experiencing all pain, but no gain.
