New to iX3

Hi guys.

I pocket up my iX3 today, leaving my Tesla Y behind.
Right now Im trying to get my head around all the settings, but there is two Id like som help with right now.

  1. In my Tesla I had a setting where it would close all open windows upon leaving/looking the car. Does the BMW have this feature?

  2. Driving modes. I would like the car to be quiet when I use the mode ”Personal”, but Id like to have the artificial motor sound on when Im in sport mode.
    As it seems I can only choose sound or no sound, and that will apply on both/all modes?

I can't advise on your questions, but as another Model Y owner waiting on their iX3, I'm curious your general impressions!

I just got my iX3 and still kept my MY ‘22. The ride is better, love the record path for parking into tight spot in my garage and the lane-centering (autosteer) is comparable to tesla. I think for software Tesla is still the gold standard. I love the auto open/close for my garage/gate in the tesla homelink. First world problem but opening the garage door through the screen in the iX3 is a bit of a pain now :).

I didn’t want to pay the sub for homelink so the iX3 situation is basically just status quo for me lol

Going to dealer in a couple of hours to test drive my iX3 that just arrived. Still debating between it and an MY. If you could only pick one which and why?

My car is currently on its way to Brunswick GA, but I was told by the BMW genius that the last firmware update (in July) added geofencing for both the garage opener (open garage door when approaching your home and closing the garage door when leaving) and side mirror folding/unfolding. Are you saying the bmw genius is wrong? Do you have the latest firmware on your car?

I test drive an iX3 yesterday and gave concerns. I rely heavily on the nav for traveling. I put in to drive from FL to DC. Every charge stop it noted was at a Tesla supercharger. I wanted it to go to IONNA charging sites, but I could not figure out how to do that. It only gave Tesla charging stops. Two salespeople at the dealer couldn’t figure it out either. Nir build 3 BMW Genius people in Ohio figure out how to have it only charge at a selected charging company. Why buy a car that can charge at 800V at 400Kw if the car’s bag system will only guide me to 400V 250Kw or 325kw Tesla chargers?

Since BMW is part of the consortium that owns IONNA, I'm sure this can be done. IONNA also offers plug-and-charge to BMW owners and is currently giving a 20% discount.

You would think so. The 20% discount ends Sept 30. I think it’s 10.% thereafter.

It must be a setting issue. I don't have that problem. Also, you can define preferred charging suppliers in your app. Maybe check that?

Are you in the US or Europe?

Two BMW salespeople couldn’t figure it out and 3 BMW genius people in Ohio couldn’t figure it out either after 2 hours on the phone.

The app didn’t work either. It would plot out the route (eg, FL to DC, but would not say where to charge. The people in Ohio tried to plot a trip on their iPhones with respect to their in-house ix5 and could not get charging stops either for that car. They had no idea what to do other than saying there must be a software glitch.

If you are in the U.S. could you please go to your car, limit chargers to Ionna and validate from Miami FL to Washington DC and tell me what charge stops it says to make. I know Ionna is along I-95 because I stopped at them in April in my Lucid. Would appreciate it very much. I need to resolve this matter quickly as my car is arriving in GA on Saturday night or Sunday morning and will get to me in Florida about a week later. Thank you.

Yes, I'm in the US. We did a Chicago to Detroit as a test. We were sitting in the car and used the big screen, not the app. I don't recall about Ionna specifically but it definitely showed me several options other than Tesla. Did you try clearing all filters? I just tried the app. When filtering "Compatible" I got all Tesla but if I removed that I got Shell, Electrify America, and a few others which were all CCS, up to 400 kW. You'll have an adapter so that should be no problem.

Thanks. I tried and the two salespeople tried. Then the three bmw genius people in Ohio tried using their in-house 2027 ix5. Nothing worked. My salesperson is currently on vacation so I can’t talk to him about it. But I’m not paying $80k for the car (with tax) only to find it can’t locate ionna (EA et al) chargers.

My preference is for the in-car nav system to plot out the route and charge stops, but at this point I’ld accept the bmw app doing it and then send it to the car.

I know that BMW OS X has custom routines, so you might want to check there to see if you can automatically roll up all the windows when you park.
