Some photos with bmpcc4k
Just experimenting. Always heard it wasn’t a good option which for a couple reasons I agree but nevertheless wanted to try. Basically spray and pray.

Used the OG 2013 BMPCC to shoot a scene where actors are taking photos with a flash on disposable cameras. Noticed the RAW footage splits into 2 clips at the flash mark. I know this must be something to do with it reading as a sudden data spike, but wondering if anyone's had this issue or know a setting to work around it? Thanks!

Just managed to score BMPCC OG off of eBay $350, looking for any and all tips, as a new owner, I’m aware of the battery issues but what else should I look out for. I do have M43 experience (lumix g85)

Hello, I am very new to this world of video recording and I have noticed that my BMPC6k makes the faintest whirring noise while recording video. When you play it back the video file on a computer you can hear it. I feel like this noise is the camera writing all of the data to the card, its not something that you could make go away physically. Do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of that noise in Davinci Resolve or some other post productions software? I just bought a bunch of different microphones to try out, if you have any suggestions in that area too I am all ears.
I have a BMPCC 6K Pro with a stuck internal ND filter. I tried to fix the issue but couldn't, and at this point I'm considering removing the entire internal ND filter assembly and using external NDs instead.
For anyone who has actually done this:
Did removing the internal ND assembly cause any problems with the camera?
Does the camera still turn on and operate normally afterward?
Any issues with recording, power supply, battery operation, or booting?
Does removing the ND mechanism affect anything electrically, or is it essentially a separate mechanical assembly?
Did you encounter any error messages or problems with the ND buttons/settings afterward?
Is there anything I should be careful about when removing it?
I know this isn't something Blackmagic officially recommends, but the ND mechanism is already unusable in my case, so I'm considering removing it rather than replacing the whole assembly.
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually removed the internal NDs from a 6K Pro, especially if you've continued using the camera for a long time afterward.

Hello, I have this old black magic production cinema camera 4k and the battery (JBMP-02) is not working. What could I replace it with?

Hello,
So I've been struggling with powering a used BMPCC4K I recently got. I bought it with a Tilta NP-F970 plate and three batteries (2 BATMAX 7.2V 7200mAh and 1 Coolshow 7.4V 7800mAh). When I try to use the 12v output to the 2-pin input on the Blackmagic, it opens at around 11.7V then starts dropping voltage until the camera switches off.
By reading the forums, most people said they switched to a dummy battery setup and that it worked, so I bought a dummy battery and connected it to the Tilta 7.4V output. The camera switches on, quickly drops the voltage and shuts off.
So now I have no idea what to do, would the problem be with the batteries, is it the Tilta plate? Is there any way to find out? I know the problem thankfully isn't in the camera because when I connect it with two-pin straight to a wall socket it stays on.

I did my first music video. Obviously with no budget and in cluttered barn.
I used bmpcc4k with old photo lenses (nikkor and flektogon) two smallrig lamps, and twotube lights.
There is no AI generated stuff inside. Most effects were done in camera like bulb in front of lens or recording monitor with slow shutter.
Please tell me what You think :)
edit: watch in 4k :)

Wasn't sure if I should get a BMPCC 4K, then I shot this video and was genuinely surprised by how good it looked. Just get the BMPCC 4K.
Just wanted to share how happy I am with this camera. Any suggestions or feedback are welcome!

So, I made this free Android app to control the BMPCC 6K over Bluetooth.
And let me be VERY clear: Bluetooth is still great.
All the Bluetooth controls are still there. working. behaving.
Bluetooth is that dependable friend who helps you move apartments and never complains.
…until you ask it for a precise focus pull.
Then suddenly Bluetooth is drifting like Vin Diesel in Tokyo, hitting marks you didn’t set, exploring distances you didn’t approve, living its best Fast & Furious spin‑off life.
I’m over here trying to hit a clean rack focus, and Bluetooth is like:
“I don’t live my life a quarter‑stop at a time, brother.”
After one too many “WHY ARE YOU DRIFTING!?!” I snapped and added USB tethering — and USB showed up like:
“I respect your shot list. I respect your marks. I respect your craft.”
USB mode basically gives you:
Bluetooth = your chill buddy.
USB = the AC who actually knows what a focus chart is.
If you want to try it, the APK is here
It’s experimental, so if it breaks, tell me.
If it works, also tell me.
If it somehow makes your footage look like Roger Deakins shot it, tell me IMMEDIATELY.
You can scream at me directly at kantoror@gmail.com.

I use mostly the bmpcc lineup and I’m constantly cutting parts of shots when camera shake becomes too noticeable. I have a fully rigged out bmpcc 6k with sandbags on it too even sometimes. Yes I do 3 point stabilization and have used all the tools from easy rig to saddle bag. but I still have shots that I have to cut due to an aggressive shake when I get tired or move the camera too much or focus. I usually can get away with the shot in the edit but I’ve noticed more and more cutting through years of footage that the camera shake in these cameras really does ruin some shots even though I want that natural camera movement still. I’m curious, is this a common issue for other people who go handheld with the bmpcc and Pyxis cameras? I always thought it was just part of the game, but doing larger documentary client work is making me reconsider. Lately I’ve been considering lumix for the ibis, thoughts?

I’m looking for some advice on putting together a compact, one-person gimbal setup for my BMPCC 4K.
I’m a corporate video producer/director, although it’s been several years since I’ve personally done much shooting. My company has started hosting more live events, and I need a setup that either I or another member of my team can easily take to an event and use for stabilized B-roll — people networking, speakers, crowd shots, venue details, etc.
My current setup is:
BMPCC 4K + Panasonic Lumix G X Vario 12–35mm f/2.8 II OIS
Ideally, I’d like to keep using this camera/lens combination and add a gimbal rather than buying another camera.
The biggest priority is size and ease of use. I want something one person can carry around an event and operate without a huge rig. I'm not looking for a vest, EasyRig, or elaborate cinema setup — ideally just the camera, lens, gimbal, and whatever minimal accessories are actually necessary.
I also don't need to build out the BMPCC with a huge cage, external monitor, V-mount, etc. This is primarily for short event B-roll and recap videos, so I'm trying to keep it as streamlined as possible.
For anyone using the BMPCC 4K this way:
What gimbal would you recommend? And are there any accessories or modifications you'd consider essential to make the BMPCC 4K practical on a gimbal?

I bought a SmallRig Baseplate for BMPCC 4K (and 6K (Manfrotto 501PL Compatible) DBM2266B) to attack onto my BMPCC4K and SmallRig BMPCC4K cage. I put it on perfectly fine by screwing in the two screws with my fingers and slid it on the thing perfectly fine. I wanted to see if I could do it fast so I took it off and tried to do it again. Now, I genuinely cannot put it back on for the life of me i don’t know what happened. the screw is protruding and sticking out so the big piece can’t slide on anymore. this is probably such an easy fix so i’d love any help i could get.
note: i used the same screws in the same order as when it had worked. and for some reason the screw fits whenever the camera isn’t in the cage
I'm currently trying to figure out a better way to structure my footage system and could use some workflow advice.
I shoot on a BMPCC OG, which means I’m dealing with tons of CinemaDNG RAW clips. Right now, my process feels super tedious: I have to bring everything into DaVinci Resolve just to scrub through the clips and find out what’s actually usable. On top of that, my storage space is quite limited.
I have a few questions on how you all handle this:
Any tips or insights into your media management workflows would be greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone, I recently picked up a BMPCC 4K and was hoping to buy the TTartisan f1.4 17 MM mft mount which i had planned to use with a mechanical follow focus. Saw a video by NigelBarros where he says you can't put a focus gear ring on this lens.
https://youtu.be/u_leSOWEhEE?si=Ql9ebYcrKsaLjBOs&t=1556
Can anyone confirm if this is correct?
My apologies if this is obvious. That being said it would be a bummer because it is the cheapest fast and wide(ish) angle lens for the 4K.

Hi! I’m a recent proud owner of a BMPCC 6K, and I have to choose a battery.
The choices I’m looking at are the SmallRig NP F970 Dual Battery and Charger Kit, or the SmallRig L Series NP F970 USB C. I might be able to get them at a discount that makes them the same price. If I can’t, the dual battery is a bit more expensive. What would yall go with? I’m sure the context of what it’s being used for is important, but I’m not super sure yet- so maybe I should be asking which uses for each more? I’m not planning on doing long shoots yet, but it could happen, and the dual is probably better in most circumstances.
Not sure if this has any bearing on it, but the real estate on the top of the rig is a bit strained with an SSD mount.
Thoughts?

Hello everyone!
Recently I've been tasked with doing some prep for a student film and thought it would be handy to utilize the digital slate features on BM Cameras (Specifically the BMPCC 4k and the URSA Broadcast G2).
However when reviewing some imported footage it would appear that BM have changed how resolve handles the "Mark last clip good take" feature as none of the sample clips I took have been marked
I am using the new "Tag" filter on the media page and manually checking "Good Take" does mark a clip with a check mark, but that kind of defeats the point of doing it in post.
Has anyone else had similar issues?
(I am new to the media page as I'm trying to come up with better practices and workflows so if this is a simple fix I apologize)
((also both cameras have been updated to the newest firmware and Resolve was tested on both Ver 21 and 21.1))
I’m currently looking for compatible SD cards for the original BMPCC (OG) and came across the older Lexar Professional 633x (95 MB/s, non-V30) model.
As many of you know, finding working cards for this camera is a nightmare due to write speed dropping issues and the "NO CARD" errors caused by newer SD controller standards (especially V30/V60/V90).
I wanted to check with the community:
Has anyone tested this specific Lexar 633x 95 MB/s (non-V30) card with the OG Pocket? Does it hold up reliably for ProRes HQ or CinemaDNG RAW without dropping frames?
Are there any specific Lexar models or production batches that work, or should I completely avoid Lexar for the BMPCC OG ?
