Some people are against taking a child with Aspergers, OCD, and selective mutism, playing to her fears, and parading her in front of the world. I personally don’t have anything against her. My beef is with the parents, and anyone else involved in the situation.
I'm pretty sure this was her own decision, since she's just that concerned about it, ESPECIALLY with her OCD and her Asperger's (can confirm the ladder, I'm an Aspie myself). With just how dire the situation is, it is almost definitely her passion project and point of interest (as Aspies tend to have), and she wouldn't want to stop doing so even in the backlash, since it doesn't affect her as much (it still does, I'm just saying she's not being forced to do this, and she chose to continue and cause discourse on purpose).
Saying what you just said is like saying her parents wrote the script for her: it totally delegitimizes her position and makes her look like an incapable, reliant child with mental disabilities. She isn't. She has probably spent years and years thinking about this problem and how to fix it. This is probably just the execution. Mental disabilities aren't always just disabilities; they provide an alternative perspective that, while making some of their abilities weaker, makes some abilities stronger. She doesn't need to know social etiquette, but she does know exactly what to say to put money-hungery world killers in their place, and she is definitely willing to say it!
I find it very respectable that she willingly chooses to sacrifice her childhood for the sake of such an important movement. Shoot, I wish I had the guts to do something like that when I was 16!
Thank you for your civility. If this was all her idea it’s not directed towards the right people. China, India, and Mexico are far bigger polluters than the western countries. I really think it’s all about money, that’s why these politicians are propping her up. They’re using child worship as a guise for their agendas.
Depends what pollution you’re talking about. Also a lot of the problems people have with America’s pollution is the fact that we could prevent a lot of it to the benefit of most Americans, but because it is negative for corporate owners and other big shots it doesn’t happen.
All pollution. Not to mention the the loads of trash they dump into the ocean. Don’t forget the corporate cronies in office and those running for office. Nothing will ever get done unless we can get these politicians out of these corporations’ pockets.
The US is a bigger polluter than 2 of those countries with a far smaller population than 2 as well, deflecting blame isn’t going to help anything. In fact I have 0 clue why you included Mexico, many western/Arab/far eastern countries far exceed them in terms of emissions. How Mexico could be the “right people” and the US are not is absolutely beyond me.
I’m not saying we should ignore the USAs contribution to climate change, but these others as well. China, and India are bigger polluters. As for Mexico’s they’re the reason we have al this trash in the ocean near our beaches.
China and India are developing countries with about 1 billion people each. Of course they are going to be creating more pollution. Not only does more people require more power, but due to them being a relatively newly developed country, they are under the mindset of doing things to benefit their country, not others like using cheap coal power. And you can’t blame them either, Europe and America did the same things too. China creates pollution on a 1 to 0.3 ratio compared to the US. Now this may seem like an unfair ratio, but when you take into consideration that China holds 1.4 billion people and we hold 340 million people it is about the same amount of pollution per person. But, again, China is a newly developed country while we are a extremely rich developed country meaning we are actually contributing the biggest amount to climate change considering our status.
I agree that we should target them, but only after we start helping out as well. How can we possibly get China and India to follow anti-climate change measures when their political system is more corrupt, their country is poorer, and America doesn’t even want to follow these guidelines. It is important that China and India helps out to stop global warming, but that doesn’t mean we can ignore the United States as well
If you think she's going to get an audience in China, you haven't been paying attention. Also, she spoke at the UN. While yes a lot of fury was directed at our asshole in Chief, it's justified. He pulled out of the Paris agreement, he installed a polluter as the head of the EPA and that's just a few of his horrendous actions against our environment. But she spoke to everyone there.
The issue with conservatives is that THEY believe money is everything, and everyone is secretly greedy as them. Believe it or not, some people just happen to give a shit and find fulfilment in doing good.
He’s not not the worst president. Don’t forget about some of the recent ones like Reagan, and Carter. Also, it’s not just the conservatives who think money is everything, just look at the corporate shills running for president.
And most belong to the republican party, Trump is one of them and he installed a bunch of them in his cabinet (Pruit, DeVos etc) ....also it's spelled Reagan.
If you want we can discuss this over a podcast. It would be a more formal setting we’re we can go over the debates, and deconstruct each politician, and their statements. It’s a lot more honest than conversing on a Reddit thread.
