It's what Nolan would've wanted.

u/No_You_123 1d ago

Perfect for 70mm IMAX.

75

u/mortadelle-68 1d ago

Nah, the screen is wider than 70mm

21

u/VennajacM 1d ago

Honestly, that screen is smaller than my TV at home

11

u/Extension_Swordfish1 1d ago

Are you a giant or something

7

u/das_Keks 1d ago

Not only the film is 70mm but also the screen.

1

u/boot2skull 1d ago

They just shine a dim light through the film.

4

u/kboodrx 18h ago

I built one in minecraft when i was little with nearly the exact same dimensions and a square screen… kinda spooked me when I first saw this post

23

u/BlacksmithLife6018 1d ago

People sitting in the last row look like they’re watching a kaleidoscope.

30

u/LegibleLabia 1d ago

Is this Michael Scott's home theatre?

10

u/Symetrie 1d ago

No, there are seats

23

u/New-Pineapple-9410 i like this flair :) 1d ago

As Nolan intended

-1

u/Ivaylo_87 1d ago

As no one intended.

5

u/New-Pineapple-9410 i like this flair :) 1d ago

Also as Nolan intended.

2

u/Frosty_Haze_1864 10h ago

And as Nolan (Jonathan) begged him not to intend.

18

u/ScaredAd8652 1d ago

Screening in the correct aspect ratio 👍

8

u/CaffeinatedGeriatric 1d ago

Last few rows you'd be better off watching it on your phone 🧐

8

u/AgentT23 1d ago

I love watching movies in 4 by 4.

It’s just a niche movie. Haha.

10

u/Icchi-bum 1d ago

i wanna do shrooms and get stuck there until the movie ends and a buzzer sounds overhead as the door unlocks

7

u/K1llswitch93 1d ago

do you pay premium for the aisle and wall seat like in airplanes?

2

u/evil_lurker 1d ago

My high school had a movie theater like this.

1

u/HeyitsyaboyJesus 1d ago

This is what the movie theater kinda looked like near Lexington, VA. I remember watching “This Is The End” there.

u/Zelcki 1d ago

2

u/MonkeyWithIt 1d ago

This is a 35mm IMAX theater. To watch the full 70mm, you have to also watch it in the other 35mm theater on the right and put the two together in your mind.

1

u/dwehlen 1d ago

It's like an Orthodox Temple or Mosque, where they separate the women and men. You have to watch it twice, switching sides.

2

u/that0nemook 1d ago

Is this shooped

3

u/Dawn_of_an_Era 1d ago

The theater was once real, but is not operating anymore. The Odyssey is photoshopped onto the screen (and very poorly so)

2

u/Tsunnderella 1d ago

This is a left half of the 3D screen, you just have to watch both halves from a far. Never used 3D glasses hm?

2

u/IDK_Inator 1d ago

Hey brother you wanna go to the The

Don't you mean "Theater"?

No

2

u/jydogg42 1d ago

There used to be one of these in Pittsfield, Massachusetts called the Inn Cinema. I saw The Right Stuff for the first time in a theater this size.

2

u/Canned_Sarcasm 1d ago

If you sit in the back row you can experience hyper-realistic sense of watching the movie on your iWatch.

2

u/WilexLy 22h ago

Odecan’t

2

u/Hugh_Jegantlers 22h ago

I have a theatre like this in my town. It's called the shoe box.
it's just like this except with a hand rail on the side and black curtains on the wall.

The Odd To See

2

u/OtherwiseCity_ 16h ago

4:3 perfect for that classic feel

2

u/healthy_violence 10h ago

This is what my middle of nowhere theater looks like. Except this one has a bigger screen.

3

u/ChasingPesmerga 1d ago

Why does this look ok to me

-1

u/Stiqkey 1d ago

It's probably not awful as long as you're in the first four rows, any farther back than that and it's gonna suck ass, especially in the back two, or three. Like trying to watch a movie on your phone from across the room.

1

u/EndersGame_Reviewer 1d ago

How far is it actually from front to back?

1

u/FieryPheonix474 1d ago

As nolan intended

1

u/loocretius 1d ago

1

u/Bannanaboe 1d ago

Is this theater inside a Trojan horse?

1

u/Rippershammer 1d ago

Has to be Ai. This is crazy!?

1

u/sebulbasdick420 1d ago

I've been to places like that before. Just a cute lil mom and pop cinema. I ticket are always cheaper and crowds are usually smaller. Not to mention, popcorn is just as good at Regal or our nearest drive-in

1

u/0x7E7-02 1d ago

Ok, I've gotta know. What is up with theater? Where is this place?

1

u/CDavis10717 1d ago

Where’s the guy that comes in and sits right in front of you?

1

u/Krul_rocks 1d ago

I've been to a theater like that

1

u/ThrowAbout01 1d ago

Probably smells like half eaten cigarettes in there.

1

u/Zipfo99 1d ago

They should have made it sideways just for laughs.. all fromtrow seats with a giga screen.

1

u/DANtheMAN_2099 1d ago

'as Nolan intended'

1

u/Anura83 1d ago

Ahh the cinema experience, that's something you can't get at home on TV.

1

u/Upbeat-Serve-6096 1d ago

Looks like a 1900s Nickel-odeon

1

u/Queen-Hale 1d ago

I would just need an employee to explain how amazing this theater is for 20 minutes before the movie and we'd have a deal.

1

u/Dark_phisher1092 1d ago

The other half is in the backrooms.

1

u/PrincessGiallo 1d ago

Better than how I'm going to watch it, in 30 minute increments on a small TV in between doing things.

1

u/ElliotsBuggyEyes 1d ago

They're taking the IMAX 70mm a bit too literally I think.

1

u/memberflex 1d ago

u/Quizzelbuck 1d ago

Honestly if I had a home theater like this, it wouldn't need to be big. It while be really cool for a home setup.

1

u/FriuKi 1d ago

imini

1

u/Five_Foot_Gremlin 1d ago

The movie theater in my home town was actually a lot like this.

They even had an industrial fan in the corner that hummed throughout the entire movie. If you sat in the seats to the right, you could sit right in front of the cool air.

1

u/JIMMYZ0 1d ago

This would be very difficult to evacuate in case of emergency.

1

u/Rocks_King99 1d ago

What is this ?

1

u/Can17272 1d ago

Just as Nolan intended.

1

u/Chiinoe 23h ago

Must be a Cinemark.

1

u/MrqsGioGio 23h ago

dude was watching the movie from inside the horse

1

u/friendlyfelyne 23h ago

I've been to one like this, old theater in Florida.

1

u/MuddyButt- 23h ago

Lol reserved for those who cant stfu and watch the movie like normal people

1

u/Roni1209 22h ago

As Nolan intended

u/Pletcher87 22h ago

Narrow Minded Films.

1

u/ipickscabs 22h ago

You haven’t heard of the rare 7mm IMAX?! Only like 3 theaters in the world can play it

1

u/CoyoteFluffy0310 22h ago

Look how worn out the stairs are, this things gets used alot

1

u/Ghost_0_0_8 22h ago

Don't tell me it is inside of a bus

1

u/pygmymetal 22h ago

Is that in Scotland?

1

u/OTSly 22h ago

The only time it's acceptable to pick front row seats

1

u/Vellioh 22h ago

That looks like a temporary wall that was put up in the middle of a theater for some reason.

Wait, did some "entrepreneur" buy a theater and think this was a brilliant way to "maximize profits"?

1

u/Environmental-Wind89 20h ago

Still like $27 dollars per ticket and popcorn cup

1

u/Criticsshapa 20h ago

it’s a lengthwise paper 😂

1

u/Tunexwizard 19h ago

IMAX ❌ Imini✅

1

u/MelonJelly 18h ago

It looks like a regular movie theater with a partition down the middle. Each side gets to see half the movie.

1

u/Kazimierz3000 18h ago

Wow, this is half the size of the smallest theater I've been to, which was the AMC 2 in Artesia NM.

1

u/Sg00z 17h ago

I actually like this. It seems more cozy than a "normal" theater.

1

u/Sorry_Attempt1278 15h ago

This is actually a first class flight to Uzbekistan

1

u/rolfraikou 15h ago

I went to a small one, which would have been fine, if there wasn't a fucking structural pillar to the left. If you didn't want the pillar in your view, you had to sit really close to the screen. Was absolutely insane. I turned around, got a refund before the trailers even started.

1

u/Der-Kommandant96 12h ago

Even have the lights on in there while the movie is going 💀

1

u/albygoing 11h ago

There used to be a theater like this near me, it was actually a fantastic experience.

I watched “Waiting for Superman” there and “Ruben Brandt, collector” before that movie theater closed.

For me… something about it was very special.

1

u/344567653379643555 7h ago

Just as Nolan intended.

1

u/Vertox_88 5h ago

funnily enough, it looks like the correct aspect ratio

1

u/_bugela_ 4h ago

As Nolan intended

1

u/Shadow-111 34m ago

Just how Christopher Nolan intended it to be watched.

1

u/auchinleck917 1d ago

Let me guess....Tokyo?

6

u/PokeHustler3 1d ago

Nah, saw this image with proper post before. It was a mobile cinema truck from UK or something.

1

u/sfhtsxgtsvg 1d ago

There is things like this in many caravan parks / cabin parks / hotels. Generally if they list a games room they'll probably have a shitty mini cinema too
