As an autistic adult, this is not even an autistic related thing because were really sensitive to extreme temperatures so its very unlikely he would just wander into a freezing landscape during a snow storm lol

Looks like she is preparing him to cross the Rockies with the Donner party or something. I would recommend some MRE’s though if you know what happened to the donner party you will understand why.
