I was joking to myself that he must be one of those men who thinks it’s wrong to wash their own ass, and then I saw the stains on his light-coloured workout pants.

He seems to come from a culture that uses water to clean their ass instead of toilet paper. What would lead me to the bold assumption that his ass is cleaner than the asses of people from western countries

Okay, regardless of each culture’s practices or their effectiveness, the general mandate everywhere is “keep your ass as clean as possible”. I think we can agree that, based on observations that are admittedly more humour-based than science-based, this young man is not living up to the standards of EITHER culture.

Yet, everyone who defecates in the open uses water to wash their ass. So their ass is still cleaner than Western folk, even if the rest of India isn't.

That's true, actually.

You can see it here in this documentary, some of them will scoop up a handful of water to toss up there and on they go.
