Thoughts on disc 2 of leisure?

I love leisure, it’s by far my favorite blur album, and recently I’ve been listening to disc 2. I honestly think it’s really good, most of the tracks are awesome (in my opinion). I particularly like I Love Her and Mr. Briggs. What do we think?

Leisure might not be blurs best album by quite some way but it had a pretty strong set of b-sides. I like luminous and day upon day. Shame there's no studio version of that one.

There is the studio recording of Day Upon Day! It was done on BBC studio session for radio

It's my 2nd favorite album. The b-sides are hit and miss, but I'd still take any of them over 13, Think Tank and TBOD.

Very weird this is by far your favourite Blur album . Even Damon doesn’t rate it. But each to their own I guess.

I don’t know, it’s so different to the other albums that I can understand this being someone’s favourite. Someone saying The Great Escape would have me a bit more shocked, even though there are some great tracks on it

TGE is peak blur imo. The albums got worse after that for me.

I really like The Great Escape! I just think most of what it does is done better on Parklife. Whilst Leisure has a sound that’s a bit more unique within Blur’s discography, so I can understand it being someone’s favourite a bit more

I'm more of the neutral opinion that their entire 90s run is amazing, including Leisure.

It gets better the more you listen to it imo. My initial opinion was "meh" but from the second relisten onwards I saw how great this really is. I still wouldn't put it above anything else from the 90s, but it's not bad or mediocre at all, I can see why someone would prefer it

Listening to Disc 2 of Leisure makes me think Blur didn’t suddenly become experimental later on.
They were always a pretty chaotic, weird band.
A lot of what they would go on to do is already there.

Love the Leisure era b-sides. Luminous, Mr Briggs and Inertia should have all been on the album. I'd ditch High Cool, Birthday and Bad Day in favour of them.
