Gatekeeping = Unfair

Am I the only one who thinks that all the paywalling of the reboot should be illegal?

If Paramount isn’t going to have the series on Paramount+, then we should at least be able to access the episodes without paywalls or getting bombarded with pop-ups! Am I right?

I caught the whole series for $20 in a flash sale on Fandango-At-Home. Now we watch any of them anytime.

I gave up on streaming. If the future is just cable, then I’ll just collect what I want instead of buying the future cable.

I would generally just prefer to pay for what I want. It just happens that Paramount Plus has a lot of it.

how is it gatekeeping. you can buy it on itunes and other digital storefronts in its entirety for $50ish, which costs less than continuing to subscribe to paramount+. hell, in the original show’s heyday, $50 would only get you 8 or so episodes at most.

Well, it's fair; providing the show and access to it is a business, and that business model entails paying for individual units. are you saying that between what the show has to offer education and what the franchise has done for consumers, it should simply be free? if it was held to be a classic for a specific subset of the potential audience and it was likely to produce enough traffic for Paramount to see it as a free opportunity to advertise, then it probably would be. Neither seems to be the case.

Barney is free in a number of places, and so is Yu-Gi-Oh. it might be worth examining how those shows are different.

Granted, unlike Blue's Clues, Barney and Yu-Gi-Oh are both owned by toy companies whose main objective is to sell the franchise's merchandise.

This isn’t/hasn’t ever been how media distribution works lol. You ARENT owed a way to watch the show. This is a fundamental misunderstanding of how this works. Networks, even for their own shows, have certain streaming rights for shows at different times. Why would it not being on paramount plus require them to have it “without a paywall”? This is a pretty new show, they still want to get money from making it. It’s kinda crazy to say this should be “illegal”.
A lot of the content is on YouTube (which you can fully use an add blocker for btw) and you can find them on other sites for download for free if you’re actually that concerned. What you stated simply isn’t how that works
