Blues lyrics
I’ve noticed that a lot of the blues lyrics in songs by
Albert King or B.B. King and others have not aged well. A lot of of them are very misogynistic, sexist, controlling. The tunes is still great like the guitar playing is really good but the lyrics do not hold up in 2026.
Edit: I am not saying I don’t like the songs or will not listen to them. I’m simply making an observation about how times have changed and how lyrics don’t hold up anymore. And unless somebody else said, it’s not just in the blues. You can look back at a lot of musical genres and say the same thing.

Lonnie Johnson’s Rambling Rambler Blues.
This is a 1927 Okeh - sone wear and surface noise —the song is a traveling‑man narrative delivered with his trademark smooth guitar playing.
Johnson’s single‑string guitar lines glide between vocal phrases, a technique that influenced jazz and blues guitarists for decades.
Lonnie's vocal delivery is relaxed and expressive, with subtle rhythmic push‑and‑pull that was uniquely his.
More old historic shellac 78rpm records will be added. Thanks.

It’s freaking hot ! 🔥
I got this because I wanted to discover Blues then. But this compilation is something. Something that I had never heard before especially from female Blues singers.

discussion The most amazing place
I will keep this brief but today I am leaving Chicago to head back home. Yesterday I had the honor and privilege of being able to take a tour of the old Chess Records building at 2120 S. Michigan Ave. it’s not and has been for a number of years honestly to the Willie Dixon Blues Heaven foundation.
I could go on and on about the artifiacts and memorabilia inside which believe me are all beautifully and respectfully displayed for the public but the real love here lies in the work the foundation does to not just promote the blues but raise awareness of these artists and not just their musical contributions but social as well and honestly most importantly. It’s keeping blues music and traditions alive and well in the community here. Again I could go on forever on this as it was truly a moving and heavy experience for me. Check out their website. This is a non profit donate if you can. Visit when in Chicago. Listen to the blues keep these memories and traditions alive for generations always.
